So, how do i choose a good server? Which ones should i go for? I thought i should aim for the ones with high Ping!! I don't know what the Icons stand for when on the Multiplayer screen by each server!! Help!!

Its a mathematical thing. The number of times per second your pc can send a signal to the server and recieve a responce would be better to have a higher number.monkeybutt said:

ping= 1/ (how many times u can send and recieve a signal)

You want a server with a LOW ping, ie one that is as low as possible. Try the 50klicks servers or Multiplay ones as suggested. They are UK one and should give u a good ping.

to see your PING when in the game BF2, press TAB and you wil see your name and next to it will be your PING.
Join servers that have a LOW ping, around 100 or less I always find good.
As for getting in vehicles, just HOLD down E when next to one and you get in it and you can also change positions in certain vehicles when you are IN the vehicle by pressing 1,2,3,4,5, etc (depending upon the number of seats in that vehicle)
You can also then press C when in vehicle to give you different camera angles whilst again in the vehicle.
Just practise m8, it takes time to learn, especially learning to fly, consider buying a joystick for the planes and heli's, some people dont bother, personnal preference. I prefer a nice stick to hold.

Thanks Magic. I have a joystick. Works great with the planes but i need to try and set it up better for the heli's as i keep crashing!! Thanks for the Ping info. Now i know to choose one with a low ping!

I find flying helicopters with a keyboard/mouse set up to work best for me personally.

Special forces has no planes, but some maps have choppers, but night maps like Devils Perch (my current favourite) and Night Flight, dont. I like SF more as there are no plane whores bombing everyone, and night maps means more stealth and usually living a bit longer. Just my preference for night maps I guess, prefer them.
When you go to the ingame browser and search for servers, once its loaded the list you can sort by ping, then just find a map you like. Personally I would steer clear of the 64 player maps (not size though) as this is just usually a death-fest for new players. Choose a map with maybe 20-32 players on. You should have more fun.
As for which character to play, I usually chose the one for the situation I was in, which started off as Anti-Tank for Karkand, but the gun isnt that great. Spec Ops is good as it has a nice gun with a red-dot scope.
Until you get a weapon unlock most of them are quite similar, but make a good choice on the unlock. I chose medic unlock first as the gun is relatively good, but I usually go back to spec ops, got both unlocks now and the guns are good.
Assault unlock G3 gun is good, but marred by a 20 round magazine.

Most servers have a feature to auto kick players who have a ping above a certain number for a certain amount of time (ie at 50K we have ours set to 250) So if someone is on the server with a sustained ping of above 250 the server will automatically kick them.
The further away the server from your physical location the higher the ping (generally) It makes common sense, the further the data has to travel the longer it takes.
