^^ Totally agree. Those that whinge and bitch about whores should **** off on unranked servers.
BF2 is running sweeter than it has ever done before for just about all who play.
I heard that the points system was being dropped and that all unlocks would be avialable on the release of 2142 and a switch away from gamespy. It Hasn't happened.
Personally the only benefit i can see from dropping the rankings is more Mod development.
Mods are not getting the attention they deserve because they cannot be run on ranked servers so knowone plays them.
Drop the ranks then people will play wherever and whenever there is a good game going.
Mods for me are the future of BF2 but only if they drop the rank system and All servers are able to run mods.

Personally i have accumulated 140k or so points and have enjoyed Every single minute of it. It means Nothing i know but for me it is like Single player achievements rolled into my online play. :cool:
It makes me No better than anyone else it just means that i like the game and play it a lot. Rocket sciences it's not.
 
Just realised if they do do that then knifes and pistols will be allowed now! woohoo, there a well good laugh. Thats what i think the problem with bf2 is really, too many people that take it too seriously.. With stats knowone wants to just have fun :(

My reasoning is this.
There are ranked and unranked servers. If you don't like whores then play on unranked.
Seems fair enouth to me.

Also my post was directly related to the current chat in this thread.
Yours on the other hand offers nothing to the thread apart from having a go at me.
Explain your reasoning.

Look i dont like cheats. Why should i move to a different server because the cheaters are exploiting holes in the game? There seem to be more ranked servers than unranked and more people on the ranked ones.

Fair enough i take your point. just the way you originally put it was a bit ott.
 
Cheats :confused: Now you are confusing me.
When i speak of whores i mean players that only concentrate on there Own scores and play to build a large individual score rather than play as a part of the team. That is a stat whore to me.
Cheating is a completely different thing. Something like meeting a mate on a quiet bit of a map to stat pad, now i class that as cheating.
Spawn camping i just class that as weak play neither cheating or whoring just weak.
The Blatant whore would be the dude bombing and straffing you for an entire round ignoring the enemy jets and just killing infantry. Then when a map comes on where there are no jets he will either go commander or leave the server. Or the Tank whore who leaves if he doesn't get the tank at the start of a round.

Personally if ther is a Jet or tank there i will use it and use it effectively and for as long as i can but i Always take on the enemy Jet/tank as soon as it has been auto spotted for me, after all it's your job.

Anyways Infantry only is the way forward these days it's much more fun steaming about in a gang shooting the crap out of anything that moves :D
 
Ok crossed wires i think.

I too prefer infantry but ill hop in tank if there is one. I mainly play for the team but if i get a big score but loose then its not the end of the world.
 
1.41 patch is out


GAMEPLAY TWEAKS

- The vehicle drop has been modified to help prevent exploits such as blocking enemy vehicles, destroying vehicles and commander assets, or as an alternative to artillery.
- C4 tossing distance has been reduced.
- A prone->crouch delay has been added.

BUG FIXES

- Fixed the Linux server hangs when trying to load a Special Forces Co-Op map.
- Another attempt at fixing the Red/Blue nametag bug.
- Fixed the missing server info on the map briefing screen.
- Fixed the server browser issues with updating info.
- Fixed the filter by maps size option in the server browser.
- Fixed a low reproducibility crash bug related to the vehicle drop.
- Fixed a crash in Co-op after a player is revived without a kit.
- Fixed a server crash on Linux 32 when trying to rotate maps in Coop Mode.
- Fixed the occasionnal red distance marker appearing on the ground.
- Fixed the bug that caused the player's arms to become invisible when switching weapons.
- Co-Op bot console commands now function on local servers.
- Fixed the excessive damage taken by the Muscle Car.
- Adjusted the minimum number of players to start the round on ranked servers. The new values for 16, 32 and 64 players are 6, 8 and 8 respectively.
- Re-enabled unlocks on unranked servers.
- Commander options are no longer available whilst commander is dead.
- Fixed bug where a spawn point is shown as selected when it is not if player has spawned in during the preview round.
- Co-Op (Local Server) - Fixed the issue where no other players may join the server if the server host is kicked and banned.
- Ranked Servers now force unlocks.
- Added support for multiple gamemodes in single maplist for mods
 
Also looks as if there is no incremental patch!

500+mb download for an ATTEMPT at fixing a red blue nametag bug and making a prone crouch delay, which nobody wants or needs. :rolleyes:
 
Actually that fix list is for 1.4 not 1.41 was some confusion on EA forums about that lol

The Battlefield 2 1.41 patch is now available for download.

Client patch [536MB]

Windows server patch [304MB]

This patch resolves a crash issue with the game.

The Linux server patch is not currently ready for release, and will be made available as soon as it is complete.

Only thing this patch fixes is a client side problem that made servers crash, so essentially its 500mb of **** all :mad:

I thought that when I saw it :p

I think the confusion may also be caused by it not being EA that created the patch but Dice themselves. I could be wrong about that but I'd like to think that was the case, it's more likely to work.

Dont know where you got that from but Dice are the developers and EA just publish the game. They dont 'program' any bit of it.
 
The patch seems to have tweaked the engines performance too, a number of our clan on lower spec machines reckon the game runs a lot smoother post 1.41 as well. Shame we don't have any before and after fps to prove this.

Does seem to have done something to 'smooth' out the running of the game thou.

Maybe I misunderstood but DICE's claim is this patch (and the near to completion 1.05 2142 patch) are being released by the original Stockholm developers rather than some other development team. ? Canada ? who knows?

Also as DICE operates as a fully integrated studio within EA, I can say they (EA) are creating the patches if I want :p

you know if this is true thats going to be the best thing they ever did to this game! Im always moaning about stupid movement and annoying game lag.
