A bit nervous...

Don't let the examiner get to you. Most don't speak much, not even a hello when you first meet then.
Don't be put off by their lack of talk, just concentrate on the task at hand.

Thanks for this, I would prefer it if they do bother to be human and have a bit of a chat to calm things! But I'll be prepared if they dont :)

i dont know if this will be a problem for your test, but my dad failed his test to become a driving instructor because of braking too hard on several occasions. before the test he dosed himself up with anti flu meds because he had a cold/manflu/whatever. it was only after the test that he found out that if you take anti cold/flu meds you are far more likely to brake too hard and generally be a bit more aggressive with the controls.

i dont know if this will be a problem for you though because the test to become a driving instructor is stupidly hard

They do say in the Highway code to make sure you check all cold and flu medication to see if it'll make you drowsy or check with a Dr beforehand if it'll affect your driving abilities, so I shall look out for this!

I do have a bugger of a head cold that's lingering so I'm going to play it safe and if needs be just have a paracetamol or something :)

Mine was a very stand offish git and actually had a go at me for driving like I was on a lesson. Thought I had failed at this point so threw caution to the wind. But he passed me first time.

Better to be nervous than over confident imo

I had a rubbish lesson before my test and was nervous as hell. I think it made me be more careful. Got 1 minor

Weirdo :/ Surely if you were driving like you were "On a lesson" that means you're driving properly?!

Glad he passed you first time though ^_^

Blimey, that's good! And no problem about me being over confident, I'm definitely not the type of person to be a cocky bugger :p I just know I can drive, all I need is the experience after the test!

Foot to the floor and cut people up like a boss

He'll be so impressed he will tick the box that allows you to drive a BMW

oh and wear stockings, nothing too tarty though, bit of class yeh?

Physically move your head when checking the rear mirror, the examiners really like it when they can see you checking.

They might miss it if you just glance, and if you actually tilt your head they should make a note of it.

Even if the mirrors positioned so you don't need to move your head, do so anyway.

Check blindspots when overtaking, over your left shoulder! May seem uneccessary but they really like it.

You can stop driving like a old woman when you PASS.

All my stockings have holes in so I dont think this will have any desired effect :p

To be honest mate you can't check your mirrors enough, show due care and attention, take things slowly and show the examiner you are a safe driver and you should have no problems.

Try not to panic at any point and if you make a mistake cast it aside straight away and carry on.

I have never been so nervous in my life, upon walking into the waiting room for my driving test. I was only there for a minute, though I had a totally break down of sorts. I wasn't sure I could walk to the car, let alone drive.
Also don't do what I did and take off without your seatbelt on. Luckily the instructor himself didn't even notice, presumably because the error was so large. I just indicated to pull over and he asked what I was doing. I told him what I had done and he said, don't worry, calm down and we'll take it from here.
Later on in the test, when we were on some quiet roads, he told me the usual, right before the end of this road I am going to ask you to preform an emergency stop. The signal will be, e.t.c. e.t.c. We got to the end of the road, please turn right, hmm, no emergency stop, waited along the next road, still no signal for the manouvre. By a couple more turns, I guessed we were not going to do one.
Back at the depo I was quite amazed to find I had passed. Woohoo.
All the very best for your test, try to relax and put your seatbelt on.
