A bit nervous...

I just tried to be as smooth as possible and made my mirror checks obvious. Other than that I just drove as I did on my lessons/when I went out with my dad and I passed first time with one minor.

I was even doing 10MPH over the speed limit at one point, I'd just come off a dual carriageway into a 30MPH limit and for some reason I thought it was 40MPH even though I'd been down the road numerous times. I looked at the sign and then at my speedometer, almost freaked out, but then just decided to let the engine brake me down to 30MPH instead of touching the brakes and possibly bringing my speeding to the attention of the examiner. He never noticed.

If you have anything like a cat walk into the road or sit in the road just drive towards it with your foot off the accelerator, looking at what's behind in the mirrors and hopefully the cat will get out of the way like it did for me, without the need of you swerving or braking.

Don't get panicked if you get sent down roads you don't know either, I got sent down quite a few I didn't know, but I just took it all in my stride, looking at all the signs.

It was a nice day off work for me anyway :p

Cheers! I hope I dont keep going and kill it if this does happen!

Don't forget to think about all the morons on the road who somehow passed their tests.

I always have that thought to reassure me :p

Right then!

The test is at 11:41am... am off to have my drive before the test in about half an hour.

I will let you all know the outcome!

Thank you all again for your great advice :) it's been very helpful and appreciated.

Good luck Jebs. Recently passed my test at the grand old age of 27. Stay relaxed - and never assume you have failed until he tells you.

Thanks SuperBOB :) I think being older is helping me at the moment because I was about 18 / 19 when I last failed my first test and much more nervous! 23 now, lets see how it goes!

Good luck mate!

Just be calm, check the mirrors OBVIOUSLY and drive at the right speed (not to slow and definitely not to fast!)

1st of all you should chew some gum while doing it, it will help you stay relaxed and it stimulates your braincells.

2nd, if your tounge is against the roof of your mouth that indicates that you are stressed and believe it or not by removing it from there will destress you.

3rd, have a good breakfast of brain food, research if you like or do what was on telly last night have porridge with blueberries and plain chocolate melted into it :)

4th... good luck!
