a bit of building help please

Just popped in to say good luck really. Can't believe you waited four months!
Now you've broken your cherry you'll be ripping other peoples apart for them :D

Hello again -its time to press that button!!!! MK17 was right I was best taking it slowly Spent about 3 hours last night making sure everything is ok and it all seems v straightforward.BTW there are no jumpers on the harddrives. Thanks to all for your good wishes and support because, although I have had it for months I wouldnt have had the confidence to plough on without your support. Going to switch on, going to BIOS and boot from cd Will let you know if theres life!!! And thanks Chaosophy youre right.I am chuffed, just wish I had done it sooner!! So cheers jos
 
OOPS! Falling at the last post! Please get me out of this one. Power is coming through, fans are going,but no signal and I cannot seem to get the cds /dvds to open.Any ideas please?
 
Have you connected both power connectors to the motherboard (inc the 4 pin one)?

And are you sure the graphics card is seated correctly?
 
If the CD drives have power disconnect the ide cable. See if it boots and if the drives open. If they do you may have the ide cable on incorrectly.
 
Ok, are you sure the memory sticks have been pushed in fully (the keepers should snap shut once they are seated correctly).
 
apart from power to the mobo, and the ide cables between the drives and the mobo, have you connected the power leads from the psu to the drives? overlooked more often than you might think :)
 
Ive disconnected the ide cable to the dvd drive and it opens ok but everything else seems to have been connected ok as does the ide cables. The memory sticks are snapped in alright, both on colour red any more ideas p l e a s e ...
 
Disconnect the hard drives and the DVD drive, and remove one memory stick and try again.

If nothing happens then remove the small battery on the motherboard for a couple of minutes, put it back in and try again.
 
Cob Ive disconnected the drives, havent touched the battery and started. Both drives open.Monitor reads NO SIGNAL. any suggestions next?
 
I assume you have the monitor connected to the graphics card?

If so, I would remove the battery to clear the CMOS and try again.
 
after you clear cmos - reconnect just one cd/dvd drive, and make sure your h/d is connected to the mobo and psu.
 
Thanks guys have tried each of these ideas and am getting nowhere fast!!! Where do we go when desperate????
 
On the mobo where does the sata drives fit properly -Lshaped 3 yellow 1purple? Could this be my mistake
 
Use the yellow sockets for the hard drives. Tho it shouldn't make a difference.

Try with one stick of memory in a yellow slot.
 
at this point, I usually take one quick pass over all the connections, make sure everythings hooked up. followed by a good ten minute's of utter obscenity, cursing the god's of technology for their cruel and vindictive sense of humour - before leaving it til the next day.
Either that or I stay up, sometimes doing more damage, until 4 in the morning.
I did have a previous gigabyte dq6 that didn't pump enough volts to my ram at stock. ended up replacing it with an aw9d-max.
but I haven't heard of that problem affecting the gigabyte p35s.
 
yes the gods have been cursed and are now wreaking revenge????? Does that mean its bedtime!!!I'll sleep on it but no doubt Ill be seeking more group therapy soon although it may be near the weekend before I get a chance to spend time!!! I just cannot find what Ive done wrong but obviously theres a connection somewhere.One last thought could I take photos of the connections and post them up -would that open anything up? thanks a bunch...........a rather dejected jos!
 
Well photos would do no harm. Tho you've probably spent enough time staring at it to notice anything amiss.

Tho you're right about it being bedtime.
