A bit of reality!

Well, I was clicking some buttons in desperation and without half realising I ended up buying an ex-display (whatever that means) 2070 super for £480... Very reputable large supplier, so hopefully there will be some possibility of warranty. I bought the same card more or less back in September for £440 from Amazon and gave it back because we kept the RX 5700 XT instead. So it is not terrible, £440 back in September, £480 now amidst the chaos...

The worst :(

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £339.89 (includes shipping: £9.90)

This low-end graphics card offers only 32% of the performance of the new Radeon RX 6800 XT, or 54% of the performance of the old RX 5700 XT.
I picked up a B-grade 580 in the summer from OCUK for my spare rig and only paid £100, might be worth moving it on while the mining craze is in full swing.

I'm having a change of heart with the 5800x that is due for delivery on Sunday. I'm considering returning it as I just don't have the enthusiasm for this greed and manipulation. The kit I have currently would tide me over for a couple of years, so I think it's time to get off the upgrade/enthusiast train and get into another hobby.

I still enjoy my gaming and tech, but things have went too far now. I've actually got some spare GPUs and mobo/CPU combos lying around but I can't even be arsed getting involved in the second hand market.

I saw AIB 3070's as low as £520 this morning . They seem to be the only card with any sort of supply. £720 is just ridiculous!
where was that please ? thats ridiculously good compared the prices ive been looking at !

Oh wait you cant tell me, sorry I forgot my mistake. :(

So it seems I pulled the trigger in haste and got the wrong card. I sent an email to the vendor to cancel the order, but of course it is out of hours. I then received an email that the order has been dispatched. It will probably arrive tomorrow. What are my options? Can the vendor refuse to cancel the order? Can I refuse the delivery? These days they simply drop it off at your doorstep and run away. What's the best way about this?

Just refuse the delivery and inform the vendor that you'd like a refund as ordered in error.

Depending on the card maybe you could sell it on members market for what you paid, helping someone out.
Edit ah sorry didn't see your post count, I think you need a few more posts to be able to access that.

So you bought a card in september and gave it back coz you kept your old card. Now you've bought another one and don't want this one either? You should know what to do as you've already sent one back.

No, I bought a 2070 Super but it arrived "opened", so rather than taking a risk, I just sent it back and bought a RX 5700 XT. Back in September there was no issue finding a GPU or anything else.

Yesterday, I bought a 2070 Super, after 2 unsuccessful attempts where it would just disappear from my basket, and then, after dinner, I realised it was the wrong 2070... I wanted the MSI Gaming X Trio and instead got the MSI Gaming... No "Trio".

My big worry is that now manufacturers and retailers got a taste of that scalper money once supply is sorted and demand is met will prices actually go down?
They have seen that people will pay the money so like last time crypto boomed prices never really came back down again.

Well partAlert is getting fun! Just got voice contacted by somebody saying they were from Uganda and asked if i could save his family by sending him 5000 us dollars. FFS !!!!!

That is terrible. an ex display 2070 super for £480. Just why would you buy it the first time at £440 and the 2nd time at £480. You'd be better with a scalped 3060ti!!

Can't blame retailers if people are willingly handing over this kind of money. I might go and buy a 2080ti for £2000
