Could be a frustrated parent that’s been trying to get hold of a GPU since before Christmas for all we know.
There have been a few disappointed kids due to this shortage too, I’m sure.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. My PC is going in a box for a month or two and I'm selling my monitor to my Brother while I concentrate on my house. I'm actually looking forward to taking a break from it all and seeing if I miss it or not. If I don't miss it then I will part it out and sell it but I'm sure I will and hopefully stock will be better by then.

Fair point but easier said than done when having to home school and work everyday, or least it is in my house.
Cheered my kids up by giving them my 2080Ti, so they’re the lucky ones.
Nah, just beat their expectation bar down. I remind my son how fortunate he is when he decides to whine. Now he's very careful about it and acknowledges many of his friends are quite spoilt.
I'd like to upgrade my GPU but don't need it so I'll wait until next generation if I have to. Not that it may improve supplies by then

Bloody hell that's bad! Didn't they launch for about £250? Good thing I'm playing older games at the moment! Not that the 1080 Ti is a slouch.

Many people defending outrageous practices are the very ones that in time, in other areas of life that will suffer from it. Defending the indefensible by using the catch-all excuse "Supply and demand"...

God's teeth, when I last saw that one it was sitting at £280!
Its normal price is half of that - £140 and with generous discounts must be approaching £100
