A bright future for MMOs...Is this the death of WoW?

So, we have two MASSIVE games on the way. Darkfall and The Chronicles of Spellborn are just looking fantastic and i actually think this could be the death of WoW. How does WoW stand a chance against such titles? They offer a LOT more than WoW...More fun, better graphics, and they just look like they have more depth to them.

Bye bye WoW, these two biggies will crush you.

What do you guys think? Will WoW manage to keep any subscribers?

Ofc WoW will manage to keep their subscribers, no MMO is gonna crush WoW any time soon. 11 million people aren't gonna quit WoW considering the expansion has just been released and most of that 11 million haven't even heard of Darkfall or Spellborn.

Well, one of your points why they will crush wow is why wow is on top lol and will stay there.

Graphics, the style of graphics WoW pulls off is something in its self. Whilst looking fairly decent, it also runs on most off the shelf 400 quid pc's out there... at half decent settings.

So this means, some 12 year old can run into a video game retailer, buy wow, stick it on the family pc and have the time of his life.

That is the main reason WoW has much more subscribers and always will :)

Yes, most.

These are low budget MMOs and will barely touch the player base after the first month.

Especially Darkfall, which contains actual risk.

I seriously doubt these will impact WoW in a major way. WoW is still huge - just look at the numbers for Lich King. I don't think Blizzard will be losing any sleep.

Totally agree. WoW sucks man, i only bought it because it is easy to run.

Didn't they say this about Age of Conan ?
Didn't they say this about Warhammer online ?

...

They offer a lot more then World of Warcraft ? how so ?
People said Warhammer online would look better ect ect...
More fun ? how so ? have you played said MMO's in question ?

11 million plus people are not going to quit world of warcraft.

Don't you dare **** of Warhammer. It is a better game than WoW will ever be. WoW is just a grindfest....Darkfall has no grinding at ALL so it pwns WoW.

(side note, sarcasm off, how many people still play that game ? whats their sub numbers like ?)

DARKFALL WILL HAVE NO GRINDING ! SIGN ME UP.

Neither game will make much of a dent in WoW, particularly not Darkfall. As much as I really really like the ideas in Darkfall and how it harks back to a more UO style of MMO, I am not naive or stupid enough to think it will have the slightest affect on WoWs subscriptions. Essentially the two are aimed at a very very VERY different type of player.

Not really sure on Spellborn, I havent really looked at it much, not really my type of MMO that one, might appeal to some but again wont make much of an impact on WoW.

How does Darkfall work then? In the sense of lvling?

Pretty much the same as UO, it doesnt have "levels" per se, you have access to all the skills and your ability in that skill increases as you use it. So for example as you use a sword your skill in swords increases, if you then cast spells your skill in that field of spells increases, if you do woodworking your skill in woodworking increases etc. Its still a grind, all MMOs are about grinds, its merely not a level based one as such.
