Ordered a big upgrade for delivery today, So i'm standing not more than 8ft from the door, no tv or radio on and just making a sandwich wnen i hear the Russell of paper at the door. I thought it was a leaflet being posted but went to the door anyway. It turns out i was being carded, I burst out the door and caught him just going out the gate and said "sorry mate i didn't hear you knock" he replied "yeah i've been here 2-3 mins"

I followed him down to the van which he parked 5 houses down the street (could have parked outside my house" then i had to let him make a phone call from my house to his boss because he had cancelled the delivery on his machine. This took a few attemps and at one point he said he would have to take the parcel back and have it re-delivered, because he couldn't get me to sign his machine. At this point the parcel and he were both in my living room!

He eventually got through to his boss and all was sorted. but it took 20mins of his time. I hope that at least teaches him to actually make the effort and try and deliver in future..

Anyway i've got a beast to build :D

Same with me when I ordered some RAM from overclockers a year ago. Waited within ear distance of the door all day. Heard the letter box open and ran out the door and stopped him driving off. He claimed he rang the door bell 3 times, clearly lying because I heard the letter box open but no bell prior. Don't understand why they do it...

I genuinely can't fathom what is in it for these guys. I mean, they've taken the effort to get out of the van and come to the door... and yet don't make a proper effort to find out if anyone is in . If anything, surely this is more work for them?!

That is very lucky mate!!

I had a shady experience when I ordered my father-in-law's PC from here about a month ago, on the morning that the system got delivered, I had been away out, anyway, I got home to find this massive box sitting on my doorstep.

The delivery guy obviously realized there was no-one at home, so he just dumped the parcel on the door!!

When I got home, I checked the track and trace facility, and the clown put it down that my partner signed for it.

Needless to say I complained to DPD about it, but they never responded..

I don't rate DPD at all. I haven't had an experience like this, but in general they just don't seem great and have slow delivery times and even slower track and trace services!

Parcelforce... Now there's a good service.

i totally agree with this!

there is a big scam apparently with delivery people and saying that you wernt in was a big article they get a fee or something for everyone not in which needs redelivery cant remember how much but it must all add up.

Another thing that really bugs me with DPD is that the next day delivery option isn't available where I live.

A couple of times I have stayed at home for the whole day waiting for my delivery, only for it not to arrive.

The last time it happened, I called them up to see what had happened, and that's when they told me that they didn't do next day where I live..

It's strange because every other site I order from can manage to get my deliveries sent out on next day.

My DPD couriers skull is an empty husk of meaningless but he gets my parcels to me every time and honours the old "postman always rings twice". Just can't bear to be in his presence though so it's always a quick, smelly and grunt filled transaction. (I'm not going to edit that sentence but we all know I should).

with all the items i have ordered over the years i never had one problem, even with the new service from dpd they always give a big loud knock 3 times or so and wait, not once have they ran off or sneaked a card in the door.

Yeah this happened to me, was sat next to my door and the citylink van pulled up, woot woot i thought, wrong i was, he just got out the van and carded me, i went out the door asked him what he was playing at, to which he replied, i've knocked twice mate :\ he actually got quite agressive about it when i pointed out that he was lying, little runt backed down though and i got a lovely letter of apology from citylink and himself.

Luckily I've never had to deal with a incompetent Courier before. Although I do hate getting 'Unable to deliver' notes, 50% of the time it's the Courier being lazy and taking one glance at the house, usually when all cars are gone they tend to do this, but who knows.

Lee Evans, being slightly annoying as he is, sums up Parcel Force and other similar Couriers perfectly here.

DPD did a strange one for me with my last OC delivery. They left it 3 doors down the road. I only found out about this as I checked the on line status and it told me it had been left at number 31 as there was no one home.

However, I work from home all day and didn't receive a card through the door either. I can only think that number 31 had a delivery the same day and they couldn't be bothered to walk up to mine.

It not like he went next door to me, or next door to next door.... Its like he made a supreme effort to deliver it that day, but still couldn't be arsed to stick a card through my door to tell me where it was.

Oo i just love these threads :D

I always stick a note on the door to say, if no1 is in then please delivery next door (old lady always in :D)

I guess that's why i haven't had a bad experience, touch wood.

I live in a block of flats and DHL kindly left my €1000 tv in the lobby and was signed for by 'Frank' and I only realised it was left there when I checked delivery status on-line. Went down to the lobby and the security guard had gone home and my TV was just sitting there.
Hmmm a strongly worded email was then sent, surely if ordering a item worth €1000 you would want the purchaser to sign for it, shouldn't you?

speak to frank :D

Around here they do not knock, they just leave the package or a card. I've had $600 of pc parts left on the front porch before.

I was told by someone they actually have timers in their trucks that record how long they stop for each delivery, and they have to keep it under a certain time so most of them don't bother knocking.
