A COUPLE OF TREATS FROM THE DEVIL (RX 580 sub £300) ONLY FOR GAMERS!

my screen is 6 months old, not changing that

Read up about using a Nvidia card on a Freesync monitor, and i think its safe to say, get the AMD as the monitor wont sync to the GPU if it slows down (from 144HZ in my case), and thus tearing will appear , is that correct?

Can someone remind me how much these cards were on release?

I could have sworn they were nowhere near £500-£600.

They're only a re-badged 480 right?

Aorus XTR was £280 on release and that was a beast with twin 8 pin connectors , and I believe the most costly along with the Strix riding close to £300.
As @Gibbo warned before their launch would be more then the 480 which he dropped to £200 at the time...

Yeah I can see why they would be more now than at release given the circs you outline, but double?

I thought I was seeing things when I saw this thread with 580's at £600. Just checked the 480's and the only one they're selling on pre-order is £450!

:D

Demand is high from miners as OCUK out the price high then add voucher code to make it just above price for the Gamers :)

Cheapest 8GB 480 was 240-260 on release.

The 580 8GB was a bit more IIRC, even tho it's just a re-branded card. But I seem to remember the 580 being 250-280 on release. I thought *that* was too much for it :p

At £600? ROFLBBQ.

It's £280 for the factory overclocked one or £299 for the very factory overclocked one with triple slot beefcake cooler.

The fake £600 price is just a trick to stop the miners finding them while browsing the store pages. Hence Gibbo's opening post listing the codes to use to unlock the real prices.

really bad value, price/performance has gone no where in almost 3 years

its better value to get the 1080 instead of the 480, since when was the higher priced cards better value ever?!
