A dog is for life, not just for lockdowns

Dogs are an incredibly large amount of commitment in fairness. We did our research and picked the breed that would suit us and had the temperament we were after. Thought we were prepared but we were wrong! the first few weeks are so full on it's like nothing I have ever experienced! 4 weeks in now and she's mostly toilet trained and I wouldn't give her up but there were genuinely points when I thought I had made a mistake.

Buying a dog during a lockdown because you are on furlough and then expecting it to fit into your lifestyle after lockdown is incredibly naïve though and I feel so sorry for the dogs that will be effectively discarded now.

On the back of this thread I checked out dogs trust, there were very few dogs for rehoming last time I looked a few months ago, loads now, even under a year old.
People are such *****.

However, according to the Dogs Trust, to own most of their dogs you cant have kids, cant have friends with kids, cant work, cant meet people, have to have a massive garden, and can never leave the house.

Unfortunately so.
