A&F don't like the Jersey Shore image

"We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans."

Really.....! Thats a bit over the top?!

Lol, some of their customers.

The ones who would be offended by Jersey Shore most likely won't watch it and quite possibly aren't aware of it - certainly not aware enough to associate the brand with it.

The ones who watch Jersey Shore... well they won't be impressed by A&F asking the people from Jersey Shore to stop wearing the clothes.

Lose lose move - as proved my the drop in shares since this announcement, if it's true.

Thing is though, everyone I've ever met who wears A&F is a ***** of some sort. All of them.

Its not that popular over here

Certainly compared with the states.

 Every second person in uni wears the stuff, especially bloody sweat pants, lads and girls. I think it's a rule that if you play rugby you have to wear something A&F.

I don't personally wear it, but I know loads of people who wear A+F/Hollister/Jack Wills, and they're all incredibly sound.

Sitting here in a Jack Will's jacket :p

It's just a clothing brand, this news story just made A&F more famous and made more people aware of their brand image.

Bottom line, there are more people know about them today than yesterday and those people will think A&F is a posh brand because of this which allows them to continue to charge prices that is in a higher bracket.

i came into the thread thinking it was something to do with alcohol and firearms not being pleased with Jersey Shore..

wasn't disappointed with the result though :)

A&F, douchey clothing for douchey people. Surely it fits right into Jersey Shore?

My wife's bro and sister (who are quite a bit younger than her) only wear A&F stuff, it's crazy how much is spent on them and they're not working - definitely a style thing but I personally think it's a bit chav.

LOL @ burberry references....... that company must have really suffered in UK from the reputation with chav :p

For what it’s worth some “banding” expert said this could just be a big publicity stunt. Whatever it is, its got publicity for someone.

Was it A&F that were on that recent fashion documentary (with the tall northern fella)? I've forgotten the documentary's name - but if I'm right A&F stores seemed to have topless make model pouting around the store as their staff and they only let certain people in.

I might be making this all up!

I'm sure if A&F didn't want their logo in the show they could just make MTV blur it out like they often do with many other logo's.

But instead they are paying one of the stars of the show, in publicity terms this is good bang for your buck... ;)
