A fallen common hero

Someone on here has this in their sig...

Someday a real rain will come and wash the scum off the streets

That day cannot come too soon.

RIP old scouse dude, shame there's not more like you about. :(

Although I understand and agree that people should persue such trouble-makers, what was a man of his age doing? A 62 year old man should not be chasing 13-15 year olds.

What a shame though.

RIP Mr. Barrett.

Common sense and self preservation. I wouldn't chase them and I'm 33. What is the point in risking injury or death for a car - and someone else's car at that?

Would you scare them off?

How else are we going to combat this sort of crime without making a stand?

Would I scare them off - no.

Zip, I very much value property, mine and other people's. But not over my own personal safety.

Not even stand from the second story window(If you have a second floor) And throw rocks at them while you wait for the police to come?

Would you do that then? Would you be prepared to deal with the repercussions of that? I doubt it.

The thing is, if everybody took that attitude, it leads to anarchy and rule by fear.

Zip, a lot of young people here now carry knives and do use them. These people breaking into the car are quite likely to be the same people who carry weapons. A 62 year old man is in no place to think about confronting such people.

A 20-30 year old man, certainly. An aging gentleman, no.

Perhaps so, but I think people need to be aware what they could be getting into if they confront youths like that. A violent response either at the time or later on is hardly unusual.
