A fallen common hero

Bring back workhouses.

1) they could make cheap goods save having to buy them from China

2) 18 hour shifts they'd be too tired to do anything else.

3) could make a great modern day oliver twist.

WHile i respect the fact that he died and sympathise with his family.

If he had died chasing his dog that had ran out of the frontdoor no one would even care.

If he was attacked by somone whilst chasing then they should throw them in prison and let em rot.

If not then its a shame, but no one should be getting done for manslaughter over this.

I understand your opinions about delinquent socioety but where do you draw the line for blaming everything on it, if its not Muslims its chavs.

My apologies - I forgot which hat I was wearing.

I thought that it was the Mitre of Righteous Indignation, but it turns out to have been the Beret of Snidey Sarcasm.

(I am not wearing the Bobble Hat of Conciliation.)

But the workhouses were a precursor to the welfare state, and, as such, had nothing to do with crime, punishment or rehabilitation.
Maybe they should in their modern reincarnation?

Agreed, but hanging for stealing bread was taking it too far.

Locking them up for 23 hours a day is a waste of their energy, most delinquents do these things either because they are bored or are on drugs.

vigilantiism will rise in the future as more and more estates are being over run with these scumbags

if it takes some pick axe handle wielded punishment beatings to keep these scrotes out of an area so be it

theres move by our local authority to evict 3 families from an esate that between have over 600 cautions and convictions against them for vandalism/burglary/theft/intimidation of witnesses..how can these sorts of people be allowed to rule in fear..they should be made to feel fear and shame themselves..

eventually people will be so sick, and see the courts have no real power and that real justice is being handed down...the local paper isnt even allowed to name them as the crimes are being committed by under 16's...

with so man crimes under their belt they are not going to reform..its their chosen career path....what do you do with a 15 year old who already has over 200 crimes racked up?

lobotomise him? chop off his hands? break all his nimble little fingers? break his ankles so he cant escape so quickly?

does he deserve any more chances?

kneecappings are the way forward as far as these pondlife are concerned!

Sounds good. :D.

People aren't bothered about commiting crimes as they know they won't get punished for it. When I was younger if I used to play up I'd have either a good clip around the ear or a smack with a slipper. But would I misbehave after? Hell no.

Prision is a joke to most.
