A-Level Results.

Was very suprised when I went to pick up the result. My offer was ABB and Track had shown in the morning that i'd got in. At school, I found out I had got BBB :p

Not sure what the reason was, either because they loved me at the interview, or because i'm paying them triple everyone else, but wooohooo, got in :D
 
for anyone thinking about remarking if they are close to the border - in january i had 70/120 and 46/120 amended to 98 and 75 respectively - bear that in mind as the markers can often be sporadic - just ensure you are not risking too much in case you do go down - thus do not if you still got into your first choices and are happy/at ease with your results. however, if you are comfortably in a grade then you are not risking too much.
 
I wish all of you who did maths would put which board you did it with.

C here with OCR and I was expected an A. I swear those bar-stards mark down public school students.

Exactly what i thought infact my whole ICT class are recieving results ALL below E's and in other subjects my friends can gets A's etc.

Iv always had trouble with OCR since GCSE. Glad iv dropped ICT now.
 
And I also can't believe myself and the rest of the class got C in economics when we were predicted As/Bs.

Why the hell does this always happen to me. The subjects I think I've done well in (Maths) I stuff up, and the subjects that went awful (Physics) I do really well. Happened at GCSE too. I'd be learning spanish for one year and thought I'd got a D, I ended up with an A 2 marks off an A*.
 
lol well i was going to drop english literature becuase i did something very stupid before the exam. Ended up getting my best result in it hahaha. ICT i was most confident in and got an E rofl...dropped now thank god i did good in other subjects.
 
It seems now that every year, with the same regularity that A-level & Highers results come out, there is a farce to follow them. This year is no different. There have already been a few, but the biggie is here now. Independent fee-paying schools are now saying that their students have been deliberately nobbled. The schools say that the OCR (Oxford, Cambridge & RSA) Exam board, which over 90% of them use has been deliberately marking their students' coursework down. But why would anyone want to do that?

If this is true I'm absolutely horrified. I would personally club the people behind it to the ground. Just because someone is fortunate enough to go to a public school, they still work damn hard, and they still deserve the grades. I honestly think there is no way in hell I got a C in maths. I was red hot at the mechanics module (getting 90% in mocks) and ended up with 61%.

Another benefit for the government of worse grades at private schools would be to see them slip down league tables, and consequently state schools climb them. This could handily show us all how Labour education policy is paying off. How would a speech from Blair with the line "..and now for the first time comprehensives in X,Y&Zshire are out performing their fee-paying counterparts...." sound? The one thing that has been missed so far is the effect to the university participation figures.

God damn I would quite happily see Blair assasinated. That man and his pathetic education policies have already ruined GCSES; where by everyone gets the A grade as it goes down to 50% in some subject. They now want to introduce an A* at A-Level to "identify the brighter pupils." My ass, it's so they can give MORE students the A grade to make it look like the education system is doing better.

I have always had a problem since GCSE with OCR - I duno why i seem to always get 1 anoloymous result and when i check it to the exam board i see a correlation

OCR = ****
AQA/EDEXCEL/Others = Around predicted.

If it was found that OCR had been marking people down for the last few years, the public school parents would have a field day and probably sue them to shreads.

I was one mark of an A* last year. I asked for a re-mark. OCR claimed that they "lost" the paper. They then "suddenly" found it and the mark remained the same.

I pulled off an ABB (A in English, Bs in Latin and RS) which thankfully was enough to drag me into UCL to read English though my offer was AAA. I'm really looking forward now to starting, and have been given a lot of confidence that the university clearly want me on the course.

My maths results seem a bit fishy suddenly dropping from AAA to CDE and I even tried harder this year, may ask for photocopies to see what happened. I got in my first choice so don't want to mess with them unless I'm sure it's wrong.

Maths - A
Biology - A
Chemistry - A

So off to medschool in 2007 :)
 
After sleeping on my A2 music result so to speak, I am considering getting it remarked. I just completely disagree with two of the module marks and know for a fact that one should be higher, much higher. What are the chances of Edexcel actually making a mistake? Has anyone actually managed to gain around 21 marks to get them up a grade, especially considering i'm 201 marks away from maximum so there's lots i've lost out on? I know a C is still a C and it's a good mark but it's always going to be in my head why I didn't get a better grade considering the amount of work I put in and the fact that Music was my strongest subject and I got very high A's in my other subjects. I just hate Edexcel! :mad:
