The other BIOS menus should be fine as they are.

Always 'double-booting' is usually a symptom of the earlier DS3 BIOS's. It's doing no harm if it's keeping the overclock settings, tho you can update to a newer BIOS (I'd try F10) if it's annoying you. You'll have to reset all your BIOS settings after updating the BIOS.

In PC HEALTH STATUS I have changed the warnings to 70max and the fan warnings to enabled and fan control method and mode to auto is that advisable?
This is now my bios setting:
Robust Graphics Booster auto
CPU Clock ratio 9x
CPU Host check control enabled
CPU Host frequency mhz 334
PCI Express freq mhz 102
C I A 2 Disabled
System memory multiplier SPD 2.50
Memory Freq mhz 800 835
System voltage control manual
DDR2 Overvoltage control +0.300v
PCI-E Overvoltage control normal
(G)MCH Overvoltage control +0.05v
CPU Voltage control 1.4000v
Normal CPU Vcore 1.35000v
(BTW If I did decide to update the bios will I need to reinstall windows too?)
Hope this measures up thanks jos

Yip fan control on auto is fine.

Everything looks fine there.

Nope no need to reinstall Windows after updating the BIOS. But I would only do it if the double-boot annoys you. Which BIOS version does the Mainboard tab of CPU-Z say?

I would leave it tbh.

You've had to work hard enough to get things as you want them without changing to a different BIOS.

Back again im a little worried as i was watching the temps on idle and they went up to 38-39 I noticed that the cpu fan had stopped and seemed to come on when it hit 40, then off again when temp dropped and this continued happening. I ran orthos again for 12mins. temps remained at 55 .I stopped and rechecked bios but all ok. and now the fans constantly on and the temp is 29. 28. I also saw one warning on everest dni Accuracy cannot be guaranteed. Is this significant and should I be worried about the fan doing this

You can ignore the Everest warnings.

And I wouldn't worry about the fan speeds either. If you want the fans on 100% all the time then disable the fan controls at the bottom of the PC Health Status menu in the BIOS.

Just done that Smart fan control method is now on disabled thanks for getting back so quickly i was worried there heres hoping

I.m really jinxed!! This ***** thing has now gone back to default after giving 3 boot attempts!!??? Can you solve that one???

It might now be a good idea to update to the F10 BIOS. You can get it from here (get F10 and not F11 or F12).

Ive been reading up and manual says to boot it from floppy but I dont have a floppy drive Can i use the memory stick or disk instead

Thanx for advice Marce!!!! But life is too short for regrets! And.... did u not know i have a bit of overclocking to do first!!!!!!

Yeah you can use a USB stick by putting the 965PDS3.F10 file on it and hitting the 'End' key during the POST screen to enter Q-Flash. Then follow the instructions.

But always select the Load Optimized Defaults option in BIOS, save and reboot, before flashing your BIOS as it's not a great idea to flash an overclocked machine. You then have to do the same after flashing the new BIOS before re-entering your overclock setings.

Hi again Cob I have spent ages trying to get the file off the memory stick but its not happening It will not recognise the stick,In Q-Flash Utility.Update Main Bios From Drive,They

am still having great difficulty getting the f10 file from the usb stick. Any helpful hints?? PLEASE??

Ok, select the Load Optimized Defaults in BIOS, save and reboot into Windows.

Then download and install the Gigabyte @BIOS utility from here. It will allow you to update your BIOS from Windows. I'm not a fan of it, but it works.

When using it, point it towards the 965PDS3.F10 on your hard drive (make sure that you have a copy of the 965PDS3.F10 file on your hard drive) rather than letting it update from the internet.
