Sorry if this has been asked several times before.

I'm looking at building a new machine and this is all new to me...go easy on me :)

Is it still worth looking at 1155 Ivy Bridge or is it getting old/is old now and I should really be saving for the 1150?

Ideally, with it being my first build I'm looking to keep costs down. It'll be used for gaming mostly and maybe a little OCing.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

you might aswell go z97 imo if starting from new

devils canyon cpu's are higher clocked at 4ghz and boost to 4.4ghz out of the box

be aware that the newer broadwell cpu's aren't far away which should be compatible with z97 also

No point in going 1155 when 1150 is marginally more expensive and has/will have more upgrade options (Haswell, Haswell Refresh/DC, Z97 will have Broadwell support).

EDIT: Lol, similar to what wazza said - same time posting :)
