I thought we could have a vote on what to do with the 'post your pictures here thread' as it seems many like me are unhappy with how it is at the moment.

If there is a clear direction forum users want to take then maybe mods would kindly make such changes?

How many people would be in favour of ending the 'Post your pictures here thread', and instead have a small selection of sticky threads split into photography genres, like People, Wildlife, Sports, Macro, Landscapes, miscellaneous. Or something similar.

All those in favour say 'aye'.. All those against say 'no'.
 
I want something that promotes C&C more than the current thread.

Current one, there's very little kind of suggestions, improvements etc... From members..

Maybe a sub forum for gear threads and spec me threads and keep the main board clear for photos and videos and hints, tips and technique.
 
What if a photo falls in to multiple categories? Or if I take a few photos at the same time, one of a person, the next of a tree. They are still in my eyes from the same set but do I have to post them in two different threads for C&C?

Not for example if the overall theme is people, then it can all go in the people thread.

If there is no actual 'theme' and they are all a mix of everything yet are still a 'set', they should probably go in the miscellaneous thread.

Ocuk is predominantly a gearhead forum of techies and geeks that are interested in the gear and technical aspects. It's not really the place for a dedicated photos only forum, there are other places on the Internet for that.

It will be pretty boring with no photos here so I think An Exception's idea is worth try.
 
Thinking about it I don't think we need themed/categorised threads just more individual threads posted by members sharing their photos with intention of feedback and discussion. I think the fact that we have this one colossal thread with the majority of photos in puts people off creating their own ones.

The 'post your pictures here thread' was obviously was obviously created to solve a problem.
A new thread for every picture would be hell, and much worse than what we already have.
 
I don't really think there is enough going on in here for all those threads. Something like:

Share your pics for fun
Pics for C&C

Would do me. I'd also like to see hi-res versions of each thread as well, with the old limit of 1024 for the standard threads. I mainly browse on the phone or iPad and the larger files make it a right pain, so I don't bother as much anymore.

Agree, the big thread is great for the one offs/fun pics but would love to see some more involved threads. E.g. Pics posted, feedback given, improved pics added.

But we are all gulity of it so just a case of making a little effort to a) post new threads, b) feedback on others.
