seriously this game is the most demanding game ive ever played by a massive margin

this is what these next gen graffics cards have been crying out for!

i rekon im gonna have to sell somthing to fund another 8800 gtx :(

As I said, those setting used for that screenshot are unplayable. (It is playable in the built up areas though, just not in the air and where there is loads of grass and trees)

I'm using an X1900XT, 2GB, E6600 @ stock, nothing really compared to your rig.

It's the grass that kills the performance I find.

The graphics arent anything special in this game and for a single gtx to run 11fps is silly, its the game engine thats faulty more than demanding, wait till a couple of patches come out and the fps will increase a little. We're still in the day where the gtx will run UT2007 with every setting up full and that does look good graphics!!

What view distance? IIRC, view distance made the biggest difference in OFP with 5000m bringing the system to its knees. 1-2 km is fine for grunt work but kind of blows for aerial sorties. Try shilka hunting in a frogfoot in pea soup view distance fog and the shilka spots you and starts firing before you get your MK1 Eyeball on it. :p

Does the multiplayer have join-in-progress? The lack thereof was one of my pet peeves in OFP.

This is possibly the worst running game ive played in a long time , how can they release a game in this state! Hell gothic3 and oblivion runs better AND LOOKS BETTER. Glad i was able to try the full version out first before spending wasted money on it

Runs better than the German version IMHO.

View distance doesnt seem to make quite an impact as it did in OFP.
10000 is nice, but not playable.
5000 is playable, great for air combat, useful for infantry if your attacking from a high position.

2500 is enough for infantry in most situations tho.

Yes, it has join in progress.

Running on a Athlon XP 2700, 1GB PC2700 DDR, 6800GT 256MB and i've got everything set to low on 1024x768. Its about playable but far from ideal, like others have said if they can sort some performance out with patches theres a great game lying underneath. Its just whether people have the patience to stick with it.

I take it performance on the UK retail version isn't much better afterall then?

tbh, they never stated it would be that much better, they did say that patch 1.05 due out in a week or two will contain many performance increases.

ArmA is extremely GPU dependant, cpu speed seems to have minimal impact on frame rates, there is an insane ammount of geometry and texture information on screen so its kinda expected to run a tad slow, after all medium-high settings involve using AA, AF and full screen post processing (DoF etc) that alone is a huge chunk of GPU power to do.

what? it dosent even look that good graphics?

I reckon i could play it at medium to high settings at 1440x900, with things like AA and shadows disabled.
