A Plague Tale: Innocence

Bit of a late arrival to this but i picked it up cheap after seeing some glowing reviews.

My opinion of it isn't quite so glowing! The graphics are great and all, but i find the gameplay to be utterly boring and without any innovation. I'm about 5 chapters in and all it seems to be is throw a rock at a conveniently placed rack of pots and pans to distract a guard and then crawl through grass to evade him. Either that or the whole torch burning / lighting loop to evade the rats. And don't get me started on all the massive hams that seem to be hanging up that Amicia can shoot down to feed the rodents. Any 'puzzles' there are are incredibly basic and your hand is held throughout.

Also, the fact that it's completely linear means you can be running away from a guard but if you happen to get through a certain door or window then all is fine. The guard won't follow you through and indeed you can't even go back through that window.

Movement is kind of clunky though not terrible and the story is a bit dumb. Sorry! I really really wanted to like this but I feel that the gameplay itself just massively hinders my enjoyment of it. I will however complete it as i've vowed to complete more games. I'm also currently playing tell tale's walking dead and little nightmares 2, both of which i feel are far more enjoyable than a plague tale.

I thought it was way overrated too. Felt very on rails and formulaic. Played a few hours on gamepass and gave up.
