A present from a customer..

I was given a gift from a shop yesterday, and so was my driver. We both got to choose a spirit as we caught a shop-lifter, shop owner was thankful.
In my workplace, as long as what ever we are given has a receipt signed by the shop keeper, and saying gift, it is all fine.

Like-wise, if we buy any alcohol, we need to keep the receipt so we can get it out of the gatehouse...

We have a hefty gift and expenses policy, but mainly due to us being American owned. There's crazy regulations in the UK about gifts/to from people.

Why not £1000 of OCUK vouchers instead????

Seriuosly, cash please or GTFO and stop buying me pointless gifts

Be off with you oik!

:p

There is an awful lot of them about. :D

I know, I've just paid for and am now awaiting delivery of an oik swatter

A .58 Enfield 3 Band Percussion Musket, just a tad concerned with the reload times but being the fairplay chap that I am at least it gives them a fighting chance!

What a wierd gift ... a basket of canned / jarred food?

Really? You've never heard of a food hamper before??

Any gifts we receive in work have to be declared. If they are deemed to be over a certain value then they are kept in storage and used as part of a free raffle we have at christmas. The exception to this is perishable goods (food, flowers etc) which are auctioned off there and then. But to be honest, most of this stuff comes in just before christmas anyway.

You need to report it to your Compliance officer. You are not allowed to keep gifts received from 3rd party or directly from clients.
Compliance officer? You're having a larf :p. We're a tiny company that haven't even heard of an HR department.

I've told my boss, he said its fine :).
