Nice - looks like 3.2GHz EE (says 3966MHz with 24% overclock).

Few things to note:

Overclock is 24 x 166 (default is 19 x 166 I imagine), so there is a possiblity of a locked or limited FSB.
Says Cores 4, Thread 4 - but should be 8 threads? Maybe a CPU-Z bug.
Note the unsubtly disguised Triple channel RAM

its still the 2.8ghz version thats cheapest but still a couple of hundred..

worth getting that or will the price drop a bit over a few months?

Shame about the price of DDR3, for the price of a bloomfield cpu, ram & board you can get a C2D setup now with a graphics card for almost the same price.

Tbh ddr3 prices are really going down and maybe by November we willbe seeing some better prices. One thing though, will we need triple channel kits for core i7?

DDR3 is already a lot cheaper than i paid for DDR2 in Feb 07

A good 6 months to a year after the release i guess.

The pricing on the high end chips at first is going to be ridiculous, probably 600 or more just for a extreme edition. Think of what else you could get with the spare cash of a slightly slower cpu, like 2 graphics cards, or just saved money.

I don't think I'd ever buy an extreme chip, I want to know what if any clocking will be available on the standard chips.. if there's nothing then I don't think I'll be changing.

The speed difference appears to be ok but not enough to warranty if there is no overclocking.

That was found to be a myth a while ago, we will be able to clock them.
