I totally agree. It reminded me of "Fear the Walking Dead". That also promised the downfall but jumped passed it as quickly as possible.

Black Summer does an amazing job on that front. It's not perfect, but it was mostly everything I'd want from a zombie apocalypse show that starts at the very beginning.
