A simple request....

Regarding contradictions, bear in mind that hebrew is not English there are some things that just don't make sense in modern English culture, that made perfect sens in old Hebrew culture.

One camp will say that Gen 1:25-26 and Gen 2:18-19 only contradict because Hebrew texts often changed the order of text to emphasize a particular point, much the same way that painters would depict the followers of Jesus as smaller than Jesus, or a author may use metaphor to explain something -- "he is on fire" doesn't mean some person is actually incandessing or has been set alight.

Another camp will say that Gen 2 has been slightly misinterpreted -- for example the New International Version says:

The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. - Genesis 2:18-19 [NIV]
However, this is detracting from the topic of the thread. I think what Squark is trying to say is that he is offended -- something I think is fair comment. Personaly I am not offended as I know i can't laugh at others unless I can allow others to laugh at myself.

A surprising number of people in this thread seem to have taken coments in this thread as a direct threat to the civil liberties of free speach -- he is only asking!

Oooh who would have thought the Bible condoned stoning of people eh??:p

Once again The Bible is a history book where one book doesn't coincide with another. In one time and part of that land, stoning was the norm, in another time laws were passed.
No doubt the Koran has many contradictions but when read in context they make sense.
