A smart device that supports Amazon, Netflix + Now TV

My Samsung TV does all 3 but it seems you may need two devices as Amazon and Now don't seem to be available together as far as I can see.
Andi.

PS My tv only does Now TV video not live tv.

Sky use re-branded Rokus as their Now TV boxes, and Netflix and Amazon are pretty-much the same whatever device you use them on.

What I mean was, are there UIs smooth and do the apps crash at all. I have a LG TV that has all of the apps available and they work, its just that they are too slow for my liking. Same applies to my Samsung TV.

Our ROku is a bit laggy on the Youtube app, but we have the most basic one. You can get higher models for quicker UI navigation

My Samsung has the Nowtv app, full package, entertainment, movies and sports live and on catchup. Also all the on demand too.

I have a Roku 3 which has all of those catch up services. All 3 run smooth, The amazon app could do with an update though as the ui isn't the nicest to look at compared to Netflix, but its fast and functional.

Do they crash at all? I'm particularly interested in the Amazon app...I imagine the now TV one will be pretty good as their box is based on the roku software and Netflix is pretty good on every device. From a YouTube review, the ui looked a little laggy.

Are there Amy new roku devices being released in the UK soon?

I must say all the apps I've used have been pretty solid, no crashes. I haven't really used the YouTube app much because I tend to cast from my phone to the Roku which does launch the app but you don't need to navigate it. Never had any crashes with the Amazon app, its responsive and works. Netflix has a nice ui and is smooth :)

There's the Roku 4 which is the newest and is supposed to be quicker than the 3 but I don't think that's officially available over here but still easily obtainable

I use the later roku2 4205 which has same processor as the roku3
  • UI is fast , as said
  • I use it for nowtv/plex exclusively which is 720p occassionaly once per 20 hours it has locked up on nowtv, but maybe down to their servers ? (annoyingly it puts a shock through speakers when this happens)
  • I presume it would run 1080 for netflix/amazon ? (indeed will it tell you what stream it is using ? hopefully it does not throttle the stream if you have a reasonable BB >10Mb/s say)
  • One reservation is that roku output is fixed at 60hz ,and NowTv&BBc are both natively 50hz, so I think picture is a bit smoother driving from a PC. I do not remember if same is true for netflix/amazon
  • Buying now, where Amazon want ~£70 I would gamble on getting a 4 from the USA for similar price, they are waiting for a firmware fix for DTS sound glitches and it will not run iplayer but since it would do 4K/hevc that would compensate. (if amazon not so important consider CCultra, some hotuk comments from beta tester suggested a new nowtv box is imminent too)
