I was in Bluewater on Friday and went into the Reiss shop... now I like suits but have never seen the point in spending silly money (£200+) for one due to the infrequency of which I need to wear them but omg... the suits in this place were AMAZING, namely a light grey one which I tried on and I swear it made me look like sex (but then don't we all think that when wearing a sharp suit), it was this one http://www.reiss.co.uk/gb-en/catalogue/men/tailoring/5928-tuscan

I have a slim build and find it hard to find 36R suits that "hug" me... but this was like a glove! £365 is a lot of money for a suit (to me), but I think this may have been the first one i've ever seen which I could actually justify purchasing.

Anyone got a Reiss suit... or have any other particularly favoured brands which they think look the dogs nadgers? :)

Reiss is a great store. I get my scarfs, smart trousers etc out of there. Got a pair of shoes a while back aswell. Might be expensive but well worth it for the quality. I'm sure they have a tailoring service as well, incase you want your trousers fitted.

The suit in the link is v.nice. It looks a little loose on that model, but still decent.

I like a formal clothing to fit perfectly and sort of flatter my body. There's nothing worse than seeing people wear a loose suit/trousers with a big chunky tie...looks so unprofessional as well.

There's a nice little suit buying guide I seen on the GQ site the other week, I'll see if I can find it...

edit:

Quite self explanatory, but it's a good little vid - esp for anyone that's never purchased a suit.

Not a bad suit; nice lines but prefer a slightly smaller collar and two button fastening.

Have a few suits and my favourite is a Hugo Boss which is black but has a thin fine green pin stripe. Fits me like a glove and easy to wear all day. Prefer Italian styles with thin collars although i do have a Ted Baker one but not worn it yet.

Hmm never tried the Hugo Boss suits, they do look very sharp though. The Ted Baker Endurance ones look decent but I find that don't fit me that well... they're not geared towards slim shapes on the 36R's!

Maybe I just need to put some more meat on... working on it though. :p

Was looking at the reiss tuscan myself th other day is a lovely looking suit and really tailored towards the more slender person, I am very thin and find it hard to get a good fitting suite most drown me but the reiss fittings are spot on!

i love reiss, the fitting of their clothes are great though they are very much catered for one body shape which is tall and slim. I find some of their stuff to be too long actually (im 5"10) but i always make sure to pop into reiss on my shopping trips as their stuff is just so nice.

I'm slim as well. Had to buy a new suit about 4 months ago and the only one I could find was a William Hunt that looks great but set me back £500

The way I see it is it'll probably last 10 years and I want to look my best so it's an investment. As long as you don't go for a high fashion suit it should easily still look good after that amount of time.

I have a Hugo Boss Red suit (not the colour red, obviously) and wear it a lot. However, if you're buying it for working in an office, remember you will mostly be only wearing the trousers by themselves so see how they look without the jacket.

small medium and average builds are sooo easy to find suits for. You can go into any shop and take something off the peg.
I have a big build so can't buy most retailers (including Boss who make great suits if you can fit into them)

Saville Row gets my vote for getting a suit. Top quality materials, all made to fit you perfectly and long lasting.

I think a suit should only be a major investment if your within an industry/position that doesn't require you to wear a suit...like ever. Otherwise you should get some decent suits for uniform or meeting clients etc. I certainly wouldn't wear the same suit for 10 years.

I've also seen a couple of nice jackets in Zara, which would be a much cheaper alternative to the likes of Reiss. Never tried them on though.

I also keep seeing an amazing looking 3/4 length coat, in a light grey colour (not plain colour, but with a kind of tweed patterning on the material), that looks really nice and fitted... but can't find it in any shops! Must make a mental note to stop someone I see wearing it and ask them where they got it from. :)

I disagree with that. Last time I bought a suit that was the case but the country has grown fat around me in that time while I have stayed slim and I have trouble finding any clothes that aren't cut to accommodate a gut. Nearly every suit I tried on was baggy round the middle.

I agree with that :D

Yes, I don't wear a suit every day and I wouldn't expect it to last that long if I did. Having said that, suits that fit me off the peg tend to be at the higher end of the price scale or the jacket needs altering up the back and sides.

Zara had one that fits that description, really pinched in at the sides. I keep kicking myself for not buying it :(

No man, go to the shop :D

It sold out a long time ago, all the summer gear is in now :(
