A trip to the dentist, NHS where art thou

How is this still happening when the NHS is receiving an extra £350 million per week thanks to Brexit?

These predictions were wrong. The NHS budget has actually risen more rapidly since the vote to leave than it did in the few years before, and will continue to rise.

Are you reading your own sources? They did give the NHS that money lol. Probably what's happening is the addition of a cities worth of people immigrating to the UK every year.

nhs funding barely rises with inflation, never mind funding all the extra uses.

Are people still taking holidays here to give birth for free etc?

Yes. When we had our second child a lady opposite us was living in turkey with her husband and only came back to have the baby. They even gave her friend a bed to sleep on next to her whilst I slept on the floor with a sleeping bag. This was 2019.

should just forbit pregnant tourists that are in the late stages, unless they have medical insurance that covers the UK

Did they? We were promised an extra £350 million per week for the NHS immediately after Brexit. That didn't happen.

Instead, May made a completely new promise of an extra £20 billion per year by 2023, which was still going to be less than the average rise since 1948. Did that actually happen? Was the promise kept? If so, where did the money come from? We now know it couldn't have come from Brexit, as May had promised.

Just 2 years ago, inflation was pushing the NHS to find £12 billion in service cuts over 3 years, which could actually balloon to £20 billion. Did the magical £350 million per week take care of all that?

Yes, the NHS budget has risen. Every government will tell you that. What they try to avoid telling you is that the rise is not enough to keep pace with the expenses. Much of the NHS budget is now wasted on unnecessary management and the prohibitively expensive public-private-partnerships turbocharged by Blair.

Oh really? But Brexiteers promised that wouldn't be happening once we'd left the EU. It's almost as if everything they said was a lie!

No, the slogan read "We send £350m to the EU, let's fund the NHS instead". Nothing about that was a promise, nor was it anything anyone in government said. It's just some bizarre thing Remainers hooked onto as if it's some prime example of Brexit lies, when actually it's trivial to debunk.

I mean, all the money goes into a pot, what even are you saying the money didn't come from Brexit so it doesn't count? lmao

Yes, it would be nice if we had a magic money tree. I'm not sure what your point even as, that we don't have unlimited money to spend on the NHS?

Yeah the NHS is a bottomless money pit, healthcare costs are insane, every department needs more money as well. It's tough. Maybe Labour will fix it when they're elected, I guess we can all look forward to seeing how that unfolds.

I think you're inventing a position for people, this is called straw manning. What was actually said was that we cannot control immigration from the EU whilst we are in it, which was true, how ever immigration figures are now in part due to large numbers of illegals which wasn't the case. The UK isn't unique in this position though, it's happening in the US and other parts of the EU as well, so basically it's not related.

But no one is forced to take the free hours, 413x was saying that private companies should be force to take on government work it a lower price or be force to close.

And you say not many but loads in London do not take the free hours.

If you knew at the point of taking your course you had to do at least 20pc nhs hours there would be no issue from my perspective.
I don't agree with moving the goal posts. But as long as it's clear at point you come in, I see no issue

It's almost as if the tories never told the truth and scammed people into voting Brexit.

Not that I did.

They just replaced EU migration with boat loads and increased Visas for places like India that made it a trade deal requirement

Cameron was a remainer.

So you prefer 'white' immigrants?

Been with my NHS/private dental practice for 25 years.

For the 5 years I was living away from there (2002-7) I visited them as none of the dentists near me didn’t have space for new patients unless they have a child! This is common practice everywhere. Must be a handful of children conceived due to this!

Though NHS patients- my parents and myself can get private treatment. My parents have private dental crowns as NHS ones are rubbish
