A warning to 1st time DSLR users

Boy am I glad I fitted a GGS screen protector to my Lumix. 5 years old son managed to get his hands on the camera and then dropped it. Protector saved the screen.

I can't find a GGS glass screen for my Olympus E-420, so getting a cheap plastic one to stick on for now... :/

And OP, unlucky on the scratched screen.

They didn't list mine directly, I just found out which cameras they do list with the same size lcd as mine.

Did you see this one on the bay? GGS 2.7" Item number: 250436612564

That's fair enough, I did find InvisibleShield http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/index.php - whom I used to use for my iPod Touch, does DSLR screens too. Got a set from them as if they're anything like their products for the iPods, really tough and scratch resistant.

Its not just protection from scratches as I found out. The glass shields have a gap between them and the camera screen. Mine absorbed a direct blow from being dropped on a paving stone edge, could well have damaged the original screen if only protected by a scratch proof film. There also appears to be a backing film that stops the cracked glass from touching the original screen as well. Quite good I though, ordered another.

I normally don't bother with screen protectors as they're those plasticy things that are a bugger to put on and the screen looks much better without.

Those glass GGS ones look pretty decent though - ordered for £4.83 :)
