So while doing more searching for a suitable camera for video I think I've found the A6300 as the best price/features/performance sub £1k

It offers 4k @ 30 fps, 1080 @ 120fps (perfect for slow mo)
Has a microphone input
Allows filming/photos whilst charging

Is there anything better with the same features ? For similar price

I think the A6300 has issues with over heating during video recording. The A6500 addressed this issue or was at least far better. Yes, it costs more but I guess you don't want to miss shooting due to the camera getting too hot.

Smallrig camera cage fixes that by acting as heatsink and also frame to mount some active cooling ;)

Probably not what you’re after, but I just got the a6000 and it’s great :)

I originally had my eye on this, but due to the lack of mic input I decided against it which is a shame as it's cheaper but I figure years of not having to sync audio to video is worth the extra price for the 6300

Sony are on top for value right now. I was going to suggest Panasonic GH but I hadn't realised how much they were.

Are the lenses you need available? Have you compared videos from a GoPro hero 6?

Been a A6300 user since Feb this year and can't complain. I was in the same situation as you and didn't really want to spend the extra on the A6500.

Do you know what lens you will be using?

For around the same price as a A6300 you can buy the Panasonic G85 which is a much better camera for video work and has a massive range of decent lenses at reasonable prices

I think the g80 does not have image stabilisation.

The G80 has IBIS and can also be used in conjunction with lenses which have optical stabilisation, for both video and photos. This was a camera which I looked into extensively but picked up the GX80 instead as it was being sold at a very low price.

The M50 will require an adaptor to use your other Canon mount lenses, check the crop factor is not an issue for you when recording at 4K and there is also no stabilisation when recording at 4K. So there are pros and cons to each of the cameras and systems. Tough one.

I just saw Canon M50 as well while looking at G80 videos

M50 is cheapest and I've got some canon lenses
Now I don't know which to pick

I use the sigma mc11 adapter with the canon 24-108. Works fine but sometimes doesn't focus quickly.

Kit lens is absolutely fine.

Nice move. Welcome to the dark side.

I mean that literally, micro four third sensors give you really dark pictures that's why people say that they are bad in low light.

;)

I've got the G80 with the 12-60. Great choice.

Get yourself the 25mm 1.7 - super cheap, sharp, great for video. Just be prepared to manually focus with shooting with this camera as the AF can be janky.

In terms of a strap, the Peak Design Slide Lite works well.
