A64 3500+ Overclock

mmm 2006 silicon...

crank it up more!

I managed 2.8 on my 3000+ @1.56v

Give it a quick blast at 1.6v and see what you get

Here I pust it a bit more

For some strange reason the cpu voltage keeps going up and down and not stay the same.

(Edit)

My PC seems o be unstable at 2.8Ghz If I keep everything the same and just up the DDR volts my PC either crashes in prime95 or I get an error in within seconds. I tried altering the divider from 166 to 133 then 100 but on both them times as soon as my PC boot into windows it shut off and restarted the computer.

Man I don't know whos getting the stress test me or the computer. lol

I guess my PC may handle about 2.7Ghz but I guess that would be boarderline so I think I feel comefy running it at 2.6Ghz and it's a good overclock at that and it stays stable. (touch Wood)

Yeah I banged up the volts but my mobo won't let me go to 1.6volts. I have got it running stable at 2.7Ghz now I run prime95 for just over seven hours with no errors.

Hi, just had my first ever attempt at overclocking my A64 3500+ and managed to get it up to 225*11 @1.55v = 2475mhz. Seems stable enough and is still < 50c under load and runs 3dmark05 fine without any issues. How high can these cpu's go on air? I've got an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro CPU Cooler on it which seems to be doing a good job. I used AI booster to make my overclock is this the best way or should it be done through the bios? I'm assuming the overclock is only applied once ai booster fires up in windows which could stress the cpu more or am I talking *******.

Glad of any pointers really as I'm trying to give max service to my X1800XT 512MB graphics card that my current cpu can give as I'm sure it's probably a bottleneck.

thanks

well i dropped the multi on mine to 10 so I could up the fsb to 235....as the higher the fsb the faster your processor.....

Always overclock in the bios, try again using the bios and then run prime for 12 hours on small fft....

Also monitor the temps...

What cpu do u have? I have a newcastle with an asus a8v deluxe so my hands are tied....what mobo and ram do you have?

Your gfx card should be ok should not be bottlenecked as far as I can think....

P.S. if you are thinking about flashing the bios I wouldn't bother because I really cant see it making that much of a diff....

Good Luck keep trying :)

Mines a Newcastle too and I have the Asus A8N5X mobo. My memory is Corsair 2x 1GB XMS 3200 TwinX matched memory.
What do you mean by run prime? Is it some kind of stability software that I can purchase or is it free?

So my cpu isn't bottlenecking my graphics card then as I'd thought:D Still it'd still be nice if I can get some extra omph from my cpu. I'm also able to run my X1800XT @700/800 without it breaking a sweat how far can these cards go? I have the powercolour version that's a bit loud but it does a good job of keeping the core fairly cool at about 70c under load.

prime 95 is a prog o/c's use when they are overclocking
Prime 95 - http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm

Run the small fft test, it can be found in options - torture test.....run it for 12 hours if it fails early on it means whatever you changed whilst overclocking i.e. fsb, multiplier or ram divider is not stable so try again....

I think you have hit about max anyway but you never know keep trying....Most importantly tho run prime and see if all tests pass....if they fail it will say....

Also get a copy of speedfan its freeware again and monitor your temps....Do you have any additional case fans etc?

I am unsure about what the max o/c *** be for your card...sorry....

I ran my 3500+ Newcastle at 2.6 for a few months with a slight increase in voltage. Have been running stock since I rebuilt though, might give it another go later

Keep us updated, my newcastle is running at 2.6 stable at the mo :)

cant seem to get it any higher - fairly sure 2.6 is the highest these will go

time to change your sig goody :p hehehe

I have the same mobo celliot but I think its more to do with my RAM....

Anyway what are your temps like celliot at 2.6??
