AA problems in BCBF2

Basically AA refuses to work in BFBC2 on my 5870 card. If I force it, it works for 1 round then as soon as the next level loads, its back to 0xAA again lol. The game is definately running in dx10 mode or above as I've even tried using the gossamer launcher tool to fiddle with the game settings. Tried forcing AA via the CCC and it doesnt even work at all then.

Using the 10.3 officials atm but have tried 10.3a/b and opengl 4.0 v1/v2

Suggestions?

Got exactly the same problem with vsync as well which is seriously getting annoying now. Basically it appears that my CCC doesnt do jack lol. If I cant get this fixed im gonna sell the card and try something else out (probably a 480, shhh lol)

well it was the first thing that came to my head considering what sometimes needs to be done with games like UT3.. tried all drivers...so only thing you can do is play about and see what happens.

it find if its a fualt of the game the best way to go is the EA fourms which I ll do just now considering I have two ATI cards

Aye might be worth a go, although the EA forums are stupidly slow at the moment. I guess they are getting pounded by people listing the bugs on the game lol. The only games I've not had problems with AA are AVP and WOW so far which is pretty annoying

so it sounds like a game fault than? none the less soon find out

I also found out that AA problems also exist on Nvidia also

As well as won't go into DX10 mode etc

and in DX9 mode it will only do 1x AA

Im fine here (with the AA) on 10.3bs

As for the Vsynch; try:

  • Start a round
  • Drop to Options
  • Change to another res
  • Bob back in game
  • back to options
  • select your res
  • Back to game

Not ideal, but it workis until EA / Dice sort themselves out :D

No probs here USING LATEST 10.3b Cats, download BC2 LAUNCHER and use it for your 5870 settings ie: DX11.

Did you check if your config file is set to readonly?

Yeah neither hidden or read only is ticked on it. Im using the gosammer launching program so I can specify dx11 etc and it works fine for 1 round then after a load, goes back to 0xmsaa lol. I've been messing around on different games all night and it seems this is the only game where its a problem as AVP, universe at war, Half life 2 + Left 4 Dead 2 all work with AA on at any chosen option.

Running 10.3a driver here and with 4xaa and V-sync enabled in CCC, works fine in game on DX11... looks great :)

Can you do a screenshot without downsizing so I can compare the objects AA in yours compared to what I actually get with AA on? Someone on the OcUK BC2 server said that the game engine doesnt use AA on destructable objects, which sadly is most of the game lol. I dont want to have to enable supersampling to see if alpha channel makes a difference or not as my FPS will crumble :P

My brother just got a asus 5870 card. great card, but we are also having the issue with not 100% aa in the BFC2, also v.sync dont work. but from reading above, it helped sort that out v.sync in BFC2. but still a pain. we're using that ATI tool also, and the v.sync won't work in other games at all :(

I'm sure this aa is something to do with the game it's self.
The guys who say AA is fine, do you not see jaggie line in places at all ? 100% jaggied free ?.

I wonder if we are running the game in DX 10. i did try that BC2Launcher, but still jaggy lines in places. i would have thought ati would make v.sync work with there drivers.
we're using the ATI Catalyst™ 10.3 Suite from the website.
also, whats should that Catalyst A.I be set at ? standard advanced.

Thanks a lot.

Yeah it appears theres a bug where shadows dont get AA at all, same with destructable objects (fences etc) and on the EA forum this isn't a high priority to fix lol.

The vsync issue is proper annoying and I dont think the CCC works as it should on W7 at all. You can use D3Doverider which comes with rivatuner to force vsync and triple buffering in games though but its still a ball ache either way.
