AA/ RAC & Ambulance Chasers

What is the average payout for being defecated on?
i think it would depend on if you were actually defecated on, or if someone defecated in your trousers and you put them on, in which case it could be partly your own lack of due care and attention? i'm not sure.
extra forums points to whoever brings this up w/ the next cold caller and reports back?

Politely tell them that you appreciate their concern, but you actually died in the accident so have no use for financial compensation.
I usually say this sort of thing to ambulance chasers (a bit puzzling though, I’ve had no accidents in years) tend to either waste their time if I’m bored or just give increasingly absurd answers until they take the hint.

I've just started saying they've got the wrong number whenever they address me by my full name on answering. Haven't had a call in ages now(awaits influx).

Don’t all modern mobiles have the ability to block numbers?

I just hang up and block them.

The problem is that I block 1 number and next time, they ring from another number. Then I download an app that can block number ranges (similar to an IP range ban), but then they start ringing outside that range too. It's got to the point that I now blanket ban all 0207 (London) numbers.

The last time I was involved in a car accident was in 1990

A few months ago during one of the storms, I managed to get my car stuck in a ditch on a country lane in the dead of night. I phoned the RAC to come pull it out of the ditch and sat there waiting for them to arrive. In the time it took them to arrive, a passing farmer pulled me out with his tractor and so I cancelled the RAC call. I thought that would be the end of it.

Here I am today and I am getting 6 - 7 cold calls on my works mobile a day about the "accident." I am absolutely fuming with the RAC as they have 100% clearly passed my details on to these ambulance chasing scum. They were the only company I spoke to in regard to ditching the car, so the only possible way for the details to leak. The calls started the very next day, after never once receiving a cold call before it.

Is there any way I can get these utter ***** to stop bothering me? It's my work number, so I often do get calls from unknown numbers. This is really starting to cause issue with me missing client calls now as I simply don't want to answer / speak to the chasers.

On the RAC website itself, they say they NEVER pass your details on to a third party. This is quite clearly a lie. There's plenty of other folk over the years who have complained on their forums having suffered the exact same problem, but the RAC response is always the same (******* liars).

[Edit] Should add that my mobile is registered with the TPS.[/edit]

As an employee of said company (although not allowed to comment in any official capacity), they definitely do not sell on any details. In a regulated industry such as insurance they'd be in hot water if they did and quite simply, it is not worth it.

Probably just coincidence tbh... like the people who log onto Facebook every day and mostly ignore the many adverts they see then one day spot an advert that is relevant to something they said in one of many conversations they'd had in the past day or two and conclude that Facebook must have been spying on them through their phone.

I get these calls and I haven't had an accident or breakdown ever.

I speak really quietly so i know theyre turning up theyre headset, Then i blow my whistle down the phone as loudly as i can. Iv heard afew shout so many profanities at this. I hang up after this and afew have tried to call me back.. Probably to give abuse.
I wonder if they would try claim off there firm after for hearing damage :')

well if you're on TPS and they're calling you illegally then the call centre is overseas... what are they going to do - admit to the UK govt that they've been deliberately breaking UK law by spam calling thousands of UK residents but could they also please investigating this naughty person who hurt one of the spammers briefly...

someone should just create a feature where you can press a button and send a loud screeching sound to nuisance callers

Did you know you may be due compensation for the accident you had?

Granted, I woke up in a hospital (don't remember the crash at all), but I recovered after a few weeks. No big deal - suck it up is my attitude.

Anyway, why would anyone in their right mind want to make a personal injury claim 28 years after a crash happened? "zomgZORZ gief gold plxxxx or I'mma report you to the blizz gamesmaster!!!!!111"

I'd buy that app

This was discussed on Mumsnet AIBU last year I think, where some Mnetters suggested blowing a whistle (or anything high pitched) down the line to cold callers. Apparently, if you get found out (calls recorded / monitored), you can get done for this if it causes damage to their hearing. I remember the argument on AIBU, some were for it, some were against.
