Good afternoon,
In August I purchased some new hardware as listed below:
256Mb XFX PCI-E GF6800GT DDR3
530W Tagan 2Force T530-U22 SLi U-Qu
AMD Athlon 64 3000 32/64Bit CPU S93
Abit AN8 Ultra PCI-E S939 NF4 DDR40
2Gb (2x1GB)Corsair, DDR400, non-ECC
I have four HDD's installed - two IDE and two are SATA.
I installed it fine and its been working like a dream until about two or three weeks ago.
I started getting some rather odd messages at startup:
Warning! NOW system is in safemode
Please re-setting CPU frequency in the CMOS setup
CMOS checksum error - defaults loaded
The machine is not overclocked in any way. I have reset the CMOS numerous times with varying success.
When I save and exit from the BIOS, its exits but does not seem to reboot. ie. monitor loses signal, fans and everything running, but i don't get the familiar startup beep. Sometimes I get an instantaneous single beep when I turn the PC on followed by the familiar single beep during POST.
Sometimes by simply pressing F1 to skip going into the BIOS after one of the above error messages the system starts fine but if I reboot or switch off the PC for any reason and then try to restart it sometimes I don't even get to see the POST screen although all the drives and CPU fan are running.
One very strange thing has been noticed and that is that the two case fans I have no longer run. The one is a 80mm which is attached to the MOBO and the other is a 120mm which is attached directly to the PSU.
Mobo BIOS Version - Award BIOS V6.00PG 04/25/2005 - NF - CK804 - 6A61FA1BC - 13
I am quite distressed and would really appreciate some advice, especially from those who may have experience the same issue.
