Abolishing the offside rule? Thoughts?

The only feasible change to the offside rule is that the player can only be offside if he is loitering.
IE, the player must still work the defensive line, must still time his runs, but he wont get flagged off side if his big toe is the only thing goal side.
 
I think it might be worth trying at some level just to see what happens. I think it'd be actually quite interesting to see the new dynamics and how they affect the game - for example you wouldn't get defenders pushing up trying to play offside so in some cases it might actually reduce the amount of clearcut chances (from throughballs) and lead to more scrappy goals where it pinballs around the penalty box.

Frank Lampard Jr would love it because it would free up more space in the middle for him to advance to within 25 yards of the goal and then blast it in off someone's arse.
