About to buy

but what if he does?
atleast it will be there if he ever needs it.

a mild overclock with the stock cooler is doable something around 4GHz, wouldnt go past it personally.

Well if he does, then of course. However he did state he wouldn't and I'm sure he will know if he plans to or not. A lot of people avoid Xfire setups due to the problems. I personally prefer a single card and if I wanted to upgrade I would sell it and upgrade rather than adding another. Too power hungry also.

With regards to the stock cooler. They're garbage... however as you said, you can overclock with them a little. However to avoid your PC sounding like a jet engine and cooking itself. It's wise to spend 20 quid on a custom cooler to keep the noise and heat down, while allowing more headroom for big overclock.

ok so a 550W power supply will be enough for an overclocked i5 and a 6950, also 6 fans on the case with about 5 usb devices plugged in?

also which ram? this one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-203-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

I'm not going to crossfire, also if im going to get a cooler i will be overclocking it with this cooler http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-001-GD&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395

If your never going to add a second card. That PSU is more than fine. That is indeed the RAM I was talking about.

thanks, wont be adding a second card anytime soon, maybe in a years time but i can just buy a new power supply then.

You can indeed.

So how's the final build looking now? In budget? Unsure of anything?

P.S. I'd like to see some decent photos of the Z9 case when you get it with the gear installed. It looks a cracking case!

Build is looking good, over budget by £48 but no problem, just awondering do all the components come with cables so i dont have to buy any extra?

This should play Battlefield 3?

Looks excellent. A little jealous!

Just goes to show you don't need to spend £1000 to get a good quality system!

Motherboard will come with all the cables you need. Sata cables.

would suggest samsung personally even tho had 2 die on me at the same time(1 was older than the other and had lasted me a few yrs before it went). well 2 deaths from 6 disks(2 of which are in a caddy and not been used much since being bought this year) in 5yrs isn't too bad :)

there is a nvidia tho better/worse is subjective and dependent on games, you have the 560ti if you want under £200 with the 570(better than the 6950 overall tho again in ati favoured games its slower) being £250+.

taking of £1000+ systems, I've just spent £1000+ upgrading mine. saying upgrading the things I've reused are the psu, hard disk(for storage/programs/games as have ssd for os+some programs), case, cooler(well its new in box bought in january), os, mouse and kb. spent £460 on the graphics card :)

Glad I could help. Remember those photos :D If you get stuck when building (not sure if you've ever did a build before) Then just ask away... plenty of clever guys on these forums willing to help. Stulid, RJC and CMNDR_ANDI all spring to mind. Ignore the rest... they're wanabees HAHA! I joke of course!

thanks, only built 1 before so i may need help.

Will this DVD drive work with my motherboard?

Sony DVD/CD RW. Model No. AW-G170A

Need a bit of help with a power cable from my power supply to my 6950. On the main cables connected to the power supply it only has 1 pci-e cable but my gfx card has slots for 2 pci-e power cables so I guess I need to plug 2 into it, my power supply comes with an extra pci-e power cable, do I need to plug this into the 12v3 or 12v4 slot on the power supply? They both say pci-e above the slots to connect it to.

You will need both installed, is one of the PCI-E hard wired into the psu.

Edit: One of the 6 pin cables goes to the motherboard for the cpu.
