working for accenture is a great way to start your career and learn the ropes (ruthless or not)

Anyone who complains about it simply don't/didn't have what it takes. Its as simple as that.

As for competitors, Acc is not an accountancy or business consulting organisation. They provide IT consultancy,

the top 4 accountancy firms are not competitors, however the following are

IBM
EDS (Electronic Data Systems Corporation)
CSC (Computer Sciences Corporation)
BT/Syntegra
Siemens
Fuji
Capgemini
LogicaCMG (to an extent)
Hitachi

Good luck, go for it. It's worth it, even if the early years may be tough. Don't be a sap and you'll walk into a great career.

(is it possible... someone on ocuk not wanting to be a support monkey?? :p lol joking people... joking)

Your skills won't help you get a job with Accenture.

Agreed, and a 2.1 prolly won't help either.

With the glut of 1st students in this day and age, you won't even get past the CV bin.

You can always try Accenture Technology Solutions... lower paid grunt work (although I would say you are likely todo the same work but for lower pay :(), but then maybe LogicaCMG would be better. ATS DO get overtime now, so there is a benefit.

I have wanted to work for Accenture ever since I met their employees (through the Student Industrial Society) and talking about what the firm does etc. I am hoping that knowing four of the main HR people will help too - fingers crossed that one of them will be interviewing me ;)

sorry,

but HR don't typically interview consultants. its just managers im afraid.

Good luck,

I mentioned earlier in the thread that I found out who is interviewing me... and it is one of the HR people I know :D

You also mentioned it was only your first round interview... ;)

Wait until your 2nd and 3rd.

Talk about ******* on the guys fire?

Its cool... to be honest I never really thought I would get this job. Don't get me wrong, I would be over the moon if I did... but I just won't have the grades for it :o

At least he was honest and suggested other places I could apply :)

LogicaCMG - what grades do they require?

Absolute crap. I know someone who now works for Accenture and he didn't get a 1st.

Well im sure thats true, but then Accenture has 3 divisions, which one is your friend in? Secondly, im not saying its 100%, but certainly a 1st gets you noticed, you have to try harder with a 2.1 and then a 2.2 you might as well forget it.

The entry requirements are a 2.1 anyway, they bin 2.2 unless you have some extraordinary tallent.

Not only have I worked at Acc, I worked with a graduate recruiter and knew 2 very well also, this is simply passing on information.

Dont shoot the messenger, but i'd bet on it being accurate.

Listen dude, if you think you have something to offer and can talk the talk, go for it. Thats what counts.

But if you don't hit that 2.1, you are just screwing yourself.

This is also a suble point...

1) You are going into the interview before graduating thus they don;t know what you will graduate with. You say you are predicted a 2.1.

2) You go through the interview process and knock their socks of..

3) You get a conditional offer even with a 2.1 (predicated)

4) You get a 2.1 and go work for Accenture.

If you get a 2.2, 99% chance they will retract your offer, and the simple reason why, they will have 3000 other people with a 2.1+ ready to fill your spot.
