Acceptable wait time for a Chinese takeaway

With all the options for takeaway you have in bristol, you chose chinese?

I'd live on Byron/Five Guys and Bills if I lived in Bristol.

lol wut? No, thats unreasonable.

We've got a few fantastic Chinese restaurants in Bristol, to be fair. If You're not far from Bristol, I recommend swinging by Oowee diner. Best burgers by a mile and I can tell you're a burger guy. Miss living in Clifton, used to go to Bills every weekend for a breakfast.

Seriously? It depends how busy they are. I would suggest any takeaway who isnt busy and is then able to do a meal in 5 or 10 minutes isnt very good or they would be busier.

Take my local Indian. Its award winner and one of the chefs has just won International Chef of the Year. On busy nights its 90 minutes for a take away order. On the same evenings the other two Indians will be less than 20 minutes. SO guess which one is the nicest?

I challenge anyone to cook for a meal for a family for 4 in 10 mins, even if everything is prepped.

That’s raw food, to packed and bagged, you can have 1 friend to help you.

And then do that for 10 others orders of family of 4, you have 30 mins to get everything done, again, all from raw.

Oh yes, but their wok is hot and they are professionsals!

Hot wok and professionals does not bend the laws of physics, if it takes X minutes to cook something, it just takes longer when there are 10x as much.

Is that just too simple or what?

When I go travelling, I avoid quiet places and aim for anywhere that’s full of locals.

Busy means good! (Generally speaking)

When im in hotels i usually speak to reception staff and ask were they would order from or nip too. Some are idiots and recommend the on-site place (especially at premiers) but many will be honest and tell you a good takeaway.
If not, as Raymond Says. Follow the locals

Hotel front reception can be hit or miss. If you can have a quick word with the manager or Bellman even then you can get better tips, but TBH, tripadvisor makes this all pretty easy.

I'm 41. I reckon 10-15 mins is acceptable.

Mother of God, if you're ordering dishes that need to be cooked (as opposed to fish and chips already sitting in the fryer's window) then expecting a turnaround of 10 minutes would be crazy. Honestly, have you ever actually cooked proper food?

Pre cooked food is quicker to serve and cook, many of these places will have all meat ready is simply a case warming up of the food and adding some sauce. I imagine the amount of places that prepare it 'fresh' is quite small.

If you walk around a Chinese supermarket will get the idea of how much of this food is basically ready to eat.

Chinese takeaway food is mostly precooked and chucked into a very hot wok when someone orders hence why it only takes a few minutes.

Not like I order from any round here, they are all disgusting rat infest hovels.
