Accident Repairs..

What if the doors don't fit the frame no more cause the shell has been squashed inwards, not and easy fix for anyone infact i don't think you would be allowed to put it back onto the road since thats structual damage.

Nobody can tell you to put it on the road or not if its not been reported to insurers. If you took it to a body shop legit, i think they are obliged to not repair a car they see as unroadworthy.

In that case, it depends on how much you spend, they may even suggest a re-shell, if you are lucky enough to find one of the same shape, and are extravagant enough to justify putting that kind of money into it.

You can either profit, or loose from these types of repair.

Thats all well and good if your going to keep and run the car into the ground, but i would never knowingly buy a Cat D or C writeoff its just not worth it.

Cat C no, Cat D yes i would under the right circumstances. It can be worth it.

Read my post about the bora, the lad has got himself a pretty much brand new Bora (1.9 TDi) for just under half the price of buying from a dealer.

Budget 1500 quid minimum for every 1/4 of the car to be repaired, that'll give you a rough ballpark. It's going to need new doorskins, if not at least completley new doors, and a decent respray if it's ever to look the same.

Plus, if the chassis' twisted, that's game over. God knows what condition the drivetrain is in after that shunt, mounting points would have shifted, the gearbox could have been shunted etc etc....

I'd leave it. :)

That has got to be like automotive pr0n for Fox :D

Thing is ITS NOT RECORDED!!

So even when its fixed up it will be worth just as much as one thats not been damaged!

IMO It's not too bad, but I wouldn't personally risk it unless I owned a bodyshop.

Yes it might not be recorded but if you come to sell it and the buyer asks, has it been in a crash and you say no, if they buyer finds out it has been in a smash and fixed up your going to be in a world of pain!

You obviously didnt spot the rear OSR wheel! Bent! Thats horrific damage to the rear axle, differential and prop shaft, which will have resulted in serious gear box damage!

FOX, i really would not touch that, thats an easy £3-5k fix!

i can tell you now that BMW original doors will be £900 for the pair. thats materials only.

i would hazard a guess a bumpers being around £200 - £300 each. rear cluster maybe £100? wing £100?

thats £1500 to £2000 in just panels. no labour.

not quite sure what you could do with the rear quater panel and the suspension / axle damage is likely to be expensive.

i personally wouldnt touch it, far too much hassle.

That is far from an easy fix imo, just look as how the passenger side rear wheel is angled - that is bad news. Thousands to put right.

/edit: indeed drivers side doh

as usual with advertisements it's what they DON'T say that's important, rather than what they do say.

and i can't see the word "drives" anwhere in the listing.

AVOID!

God no ;/ It will be expensive, and probably painful. Work out an estimate then add more money for the things you didn’t think of :P

I have no doubt that something like that will turn in to a real headache somewhere down the line.
