Accident.

I'd like to get my 2 pence in here if I may and this is in no way a direct flame at Tom and his accident as its not much fun.

People assume they have whiplash, when in fact they have no such thing. Proper whiplash would and should be treated with a proper neck brace and will present in problems for years after an accident. People who say "i had a knock and within an hour my neck was stiff, omg whiplash". That is NOT whiplash. Whiplash does not and cannot present itself that quicly. This has been medically proven by chiropractors and Physios the world over very recently over the last 2-3 years.

What you are feeling is muscles which you take for granted (i.e., you'd never exercise them but they work day in day out) are over compensating for an injury or shock to another muscle in the neck and shoulder area, not spine. The injured muscle will have microteared to a large degree, similar to the ache you'd feel in your arms after a weeks worth of body building if you hadnt done it for a long long time. The other muscles, overcompensating are protecting that muscle from further traumar which in turn allows it to heal itself. Again, this is not whiplash.

I could go on and explain in more detail the finer points of this but there isnt a lot of point. However, in my opinion, professional or otherwise, modern cars and car seats are unlikely to give any front seat occupant a whiplash injury at moderate speed let alone a small shunt like Toms, and if you didn't have your headrest set correctly then the owness should be own you to foot your own medical bill.

Doctors, medics etc will say 'whiplash' as its a hell of a lot easier than breaking down the info i've just given here.

Driving age should be increased to 21.

What the hell!, you do realise the accident wasn't even my fault?, more to the point have you even read the thread or just seeen the word "Accident" and presumed it was my fault?. I always drive in a responsible manner hence why I was so shocked this had happened to me. You can't stop other people idiocy. Don't really understand why you said that.. As for the guy who said all 17 year old's should drive 1000cc in the first year, also WTF this would make the situation even worse with **** poor powered cars stuggling to make any sort of progress.

Wtf you following me or somthing you got a personal problem email me or somthing stop following me around and picking out posts like a hawk its annoying me and other people and making you look rather pathetic. :o , feel sorry on your part you got nothing else to do.

Just for the record you can still drive sprightly and have fun with your car while still being responsible and knowing your limits and car limits LIKE I said. I didn't say anywhere there or implied I had driven like a looney. Only thing i said which may sound like I was being reckless is the fact i said "I was throwing the car about" but this was simply meant as tongue in cheek and tbh ive heard worse on here before, I had already said I hadn't been too silly. You might want to try getting out somtime and having a bit of fun yourself you may actually enjoy it :) . I shouldn't have to explain myself to people like you but you seem to be on a mission to tarnish my name, so im forced too. Time for someone to get a life me think's.

Got to agree with you Faithless, except that they don't give out neck braces any longer...

How would it make the situation worse? If it takes me 10 seconds to get to 30mph it's the ideal car for a learner to drive.

I do not see many 1.0l cars upside down in fields. It's always 1.4's +

A 1.1 106 is not painful at all. 0-60 in 12 secs is not far off how fast your focus is.

I don't bother getting wound up by minor whiplash claims any more.

They are the ones who have to declare it the next time they insure their cars. Fault or non-fault, the insurance company will ask them about the claim and the total pay out.

Being a young driver I am sure they will milk it like the whiplash claimer intends too. Sad, hard lesson when you are young.

So if its not far off how fast a Focus is whats the point in banning the Focus but allowing the 1.1?

1.1 litre cars suck. I would have hated to be confined to rubbish old people shopping trolleys for the first 4 years of my driving.

Who said 4 years?

For every person that claims, there is god knows how many who dont claim in years and years, insurance compaines make a killing of people not claiming.

Claim away.

Because that makes you a better driver, biggest car I have ever driven was a 1.5l not crashed yet in 7 years of driving, how many times have you crashed?

It doesnt matter what you drive, its how you drive it.

Err, no it doesn't. It has absolutely no bearing on it whatsoever.

Congratulations, would you like a badge or a sticker? I bet that has nothing to do with the last 7 years driving around in cars with hairdryers for engines.

how many times have you crashed?

You know the answer to that question and I suspect that one thing has improved my driving more than your years of driving cars without engines..

Why would you tell someone writing considerably fewer and considerably shorter posts than you on an internet forum to get a life

Because of the fact, hes pulled the same stunt a few times which is just getting tedious.

I am not having a pop at the OP but this bit didn't make a lot of sense.

was ploughed into at a car which was travelling at full speed and which made no attempt to brake this car was a Jaguar owned by an elderly women.

At this point I had a mental vision of a Jag going about 120mph with Miss Daisy at the wheel. Then...

I think she hit me around 20-30mph.

I can imagine like some poor old grandma poodleing along not looking where she is going then bam!

"Are you ok dear, I am dreadfully sorry".

Yes that'll all do our insurance premiums a world of good in the future.

Only time will tell and bigger engined car.

Sorry but what you say is completely rubbish but I respect that it is your opinion and I have mine. I am 20 years old (so well into young driver territory) and have 2 years no claims. I have gone from driving a 1.8 as my first car to a 2.5 TDI and now a 3.0. Some moron managed to hit my Audi and did minor damage to the front end but that was not my fault and was proved to be the case.
It is nice to have a bit of fun with cars when it is safe to do so but most people respect there is a time and place for it. Normal daily driving does not consist of this and so there is no reason why I am more likely to crash this car than a 1.0 Corsa. My experience of my small accident when the hoooop hit me has actually bettered my reactions and general sense of what other cars are going to do. The fact it is also a RWD vehicle also means that the backend is more likely to step out and potentially cause an accident. I have also learnt more about (and still learning) how to control the car in this eventuality.

Hey, by "full speed" i simply meant she didn't even brake  . She was very shook up and I did wait with her till the recovery came for her Jag , tbh im happy to put the accident in the past now just glad I have my car back.
