First thing is I think I am ******* lucky to be alive right now. And of course, the first thing to do after an accident is to tell the internetz.
Pretty sure the Supra is a write off as of 11am this morning. Was returning home up a 'residential' dual carriage way on the inside lane. Moved to the outside to overtake the car in front of me and I felt the back end twitch.
I'd say I definately wasn't speeding (40mph limit), maybe accelerated too harshly at the wrong time or <cliche>black ice/oil/diesel in the road</cliche> but I can't be sure at all.
Next bit happened as a bit of a blur, the usual slo mo thing everyone says happens....the back end came out and I tried to correct it but the car clipped the dividing concrete central barrier on the road and spun out ACROSS the reservation onto oncoming traffic.
Hit an oncoming MPV and airbags deployed etc, HUGE front end damage to my car (bumper, bonnet, wings, rad, intercooler and pretty sure its shunted the engine upwards and gearbox is knackered too going over the relatively high concrete. The MPV damage was bumper, bonnet and bowed wheels as far as I could see.
As the car spun, it apparently clipped another veichle but damage to that one I think looked minimal in comparison although it too ended up on the opposite side of the carriage way.
Insurance companies handling it now, police are taking statements from all involved + witnesses over the next couple of days to figure out what happened. No injuries, paramedics checked all involved at the scene and a couple went to the hospital for a full checkup.
Properly gutted, loved that car. Was in talks with a guy about buying the RLTC for better traction control too. Ironically. Second day I brought it out after the bad weather.
Sigh
