Accidently "ran" a red light

Just out of interest, as the OP is a learner, isn't the accompanying driver at fault?

Nope. As mentioned above, and explained by my instructor when I was taking lessons, if you speed/jump a red light/etc, then the points & fine are yours, not the instructors.

It's under a second. I got caught on one about 4 years ago. I was late for work and knew from the sequencing the lights were likely to change as I approached so I "went for it". It went red just as I crossed the line. I didn't see the flash. The NIP arrived 12 days later (the same day I was told I was likely being made redundant!).

I took it on the chin as :
1) I screwed up
2) It clocked me at 43mph in a 30mph zone

If I'd disputed they would have likely chucked both counts at me instead.

I won't be doing it again!

I didn't realise red light cameras clocked your speed, you sure it wasn't a gatso or camera van that got you?

It's a fixed position camera ... about 100 yards from the front door to my then work office. It was my first day back after a 2 week holiday and the camera had been installed while I was away.
