Acer Revo RL100

I am sorry to revive a very old post, but just wondering if anyone still has and uses one of these machines as I do. On the info here I bought 8GB to upgrade my machine (10600 ddr3 4gbX2) and it is only recognizing 4gb in the first slot.

Any advice? I am on the latest bios and updates. I am running Win 8.1 PRO.

Thank you for any advice.

Hmmm, giving me not found for link???

Yeah same thing for me.

Anyway, though, I am pleased to report it DOES indeed support 8GB of ram. The early failure was my own, as one of the SO-DIMMS was unseated while I was reassembling it. It can be difficult placing them in and then turning it upside down to reinstall. It is MUCH peppier with the 8GB.

For posterity, I used the following RAM: VISIONTEK 8GB (2x4GB) PC3-10600 DDR3 CL9 1333MHz SO-DIMM MEMORY VTK4GNB3

ANOTHER QUESTION though, I also installed an SSD, a Kingston v300 240GB model. It is only listed as ATA in Device Manager and I cannot see ANYTHING in BIOS that allows switching to AHCI mode. I have the latest BIOS flashed from ACER and no AHCI mentioned.

Any advice?

I had one of these and it was awful. It was just so weak. It was even upgraded too with more ram and an SSD. the chassis and they keboard/touch pad was very good. the processor and GPU really killed it though. probably the cpu.

i'd honestly not bother spending more money on these and just buy a more modern rig. no it won't look as sleek or have the fancy touchpad/keyboard. but it will fly in comparison.

Yes, the CPU and GPU are not great, I agree. The biggest downside for me, honestly, was the 4Gb ram. Now that's sorted, it's much better. The SSD is one I had laying about so not investing. Regardless, it gets the job done for me and it's what I have.

Any thoughts on the AHCI issue?
