ACER S243HL 24" WIDESCREEN LED MONITOR AVAILABLE

Wednesday, I'll post up some pics and let y'all know what it's like. Although I'll probably be far too dazzled to see it objectively after my ancient 20" swisstec :P

Oh my...

But I creamed at that monitor.<3
And I disagree with the poeple hating the stand..
I actually loved the stand! It looks very tacky and just plain ugly.
If I did get this, I would be afraid that I would snap it in half.

fixed. You should be more afraid of me snapping it for you :)

joking aside, am in the market for a 24" panel with 1080p for ps3 and temporary tv use. i would actually consider this monitor, everything looks ok.... Except the stand! :)

LG W2486L is looking to be my choice, check the stand on that :D

the stand must be where all the 'mechanics' all are with it being so thin.
thus the reason why its oddly shaped.

I've got mine :D I'll post up pics as soon as I can get it to realise that there is another inch of display it can use on all sides. Stand feels very solid though, if anyone was wondering, the base is metal.

I think you'll agree the pictures don't do it justice. I'll try and dig out my camera but Devrij might be quicker :)

These pictures, especially, don't do it justice. Having a couple issues getting it to display my desktop without black bars all round it, but as you can see it's just fine for xbox :D

Blacks and whites are spectacular, viewing angles are what you'd expect from a TN panel. So far, I love it. Except the whole black bars thing, which I'm having trouble sorting.

so what would the difference be between this and the samsung T240 worth the jump ? you reckon.

thanks for the pics. Some reviews from the U.S point to the screen sagging to the left slightly due to the placement of the stand. Is your screen perfectly aligned?

thanks.

the display problem is because your using HDMI with an ATI card? I get the same if i use the HDMI socket on my monitor with my card.

Apparently the problem is to do with picture Under/Overscan under DTV settings in CCC which needs to be set to 0% for the boders to go away. Problem is i dont have any settings under or even an option for DTV in CCC.

I use DVI and the border are gone on my screen but specs for this monitor list it as having only analogue and hdmi inputs so its a big no go for me

The hdmi problem can be fixed with the workaround I found:
-set resolution below native
-go to desktops and displays in CCC
- in the small window at the bottom (not the main window) click the corner arrow and go to "configure"
-set overscan to 0% and/or tick the maintain aspect box
-go to 1920x1080 and all is good

I found I also had to go to the basic menu and run the setup wizard for the options to become available, but it worked for me

As for screen sagging, I don't see any whatsoever. as long as the base is on tightly I don't see why it should, as it's a very solid stand.

Oh yeah, I will say that the colours were a bit washed out on the auto setting, but you can easily adjust it to the "graphics" setting which seems nicely set up if you want to avoid fiddling. The buttons aren't ideally placed as they're under the screen slightly, but that's not a main concern of mine as I only used them once.

So far: happy customer :)

(now to sort out my 5770 issues :( )

Awaiting an RMA on gfx card, so can't tell you about pc gaming, but for xbox it's great. Really crisp, nice colours, and the contrast is amazing (dark scenes really defined). it's nice having perfect whites right next to inky blacks instead of the grey I'm used to lol!
