ACER S243HL 24" WIDESCREEN LED MONITOR AVAILABLE

It's listed as 1080 on the ACER web site so I would go with that.

My finger is now hovering over the buy button although I'm still tempted by ACER's 120Hz screen - £50 more.......

Decisions decisions.

Is this the same monitor as listed HERE? I'm asking because I'm looking for two 1920x1200 24" screens to complete an Eyefinity setup (currently have an hp LP2475w, but don't want to spend big ££ on two more of those) & this one looks pretty decent (albeit with hdmi problems). The Google link describes the monitor as being 1200, not 1080, even though it links to the Overclockers page stating 1080...whereas most of the other links list it as being 1200. Cheers!

It's 1080, and I haven't had any hdmi problems besides the random black bars which were my comp's fault not the monitor.

To anyone hovering over the buy button:
Pros: very thin, looks very nice, great contrast, built in speaker, 2x HDMI input 1xVGA, colour presets to choose from (as well as software to fully customize), affordable

Cons: buttons are a bit fiddly as they sit slightly under/behind the display, audio in but no audio out (only an issue for xbox gaming really), 60Hz, standard TN panel so viewing angles could be better.

great, thanks.

Is my current monitor, a DELL Ultrasharp 2408WFP-HC 24" a TN panel?

Just wondering if I would be looking at a step down in terms of colour / contrast.

thanks.

oh really. That is annoying. I only want to get a new monitor because the input lag is SO bad on the DELL.

Not sure what to do now!

TN (usually!) panels will have worse accuracy in reproducing colours but better response times. It depends on what you want most.

Welcome to the train crash that is the monitor market. TNs have rubbish image quality, PVA has input lag, IPS is a colour tint lottery, MVA has gone AWOL. It's almost impossible these days to get a monitor that doesn't have major problems in some area, it comes down to picking what flaw you can best put up with

I'm glad I don't find input lag a problem, so I can just buy S-PVA be done with it. I love my 2407WPF-HC :)

Hi Guys,

A slight thread revival....

I just purchased one of these screens, on a little bit of an impulse (by that I mean I didn't do my usual vigorous research before purchasing).....

After reading this thread, I thought I'd ask you guys your opinions of it.

I'll be mainly using my PC for gaming (and some movie watching).

Will this screen be adequate for gaming?

Or is it worth getting the new Acer GD245HQ 120Hz when it comes out? I'm the kind of person that usually likes the 'Best' of everything.....so if there is going to be a noticeable difference in quality, then I probabl would be willing to get another monitor

(I can always find a use for the S243HL in my business)

Thanks in advance guys for any help ;)

Any update from the guys who purchased? tempted to get this as it has a bit of everything, not sure about the stand though. i def want led, speakers would be good or i will have to go for a dell + soundbar.
