Acer XF270HU - 27-inch 1440P IPS 144MHz Freesync Monitor

I am not so sure the Eizo will be better, even though I am looking at it, too. The Eizo comes with two different Freesync Modes, FS high and FS low and the range on FS high is worse than on the Acer.

FreeSync High: 56-144 Hz
FreeSync Low: 35-90 Hz

Mine arrived today and backlight bleed is a problem. Which isn't a huge surprise. Watching scope movies isn't great, especially if they're dark, and the corners were noticeable in Vermintide and Alien Isolation in certain areas. This is with brightness at 45 and contrast knocked down.

This was taken in the conditions I usually play in - no lights on in the room but light spilling in from the corridor. To be fair it's not as bad as the picture suggests, but for £500 it's enough to bug me.

that's not acceptable, is it?

It's not. OCUK are taking a look at the screenshot and will get back to me.

I personally wouldn't be happy with that, shame as on paper it seems like the ideal monitor.

Yeah. For what it's worth everything else was was good. Super smooth, decent picture. I was almost going to put up with it but the kicker was when I couldn't use the backdrop I wanted in Windows as it wound me up every time I looked at it.

Your photo seems overexposed, can't be that bad.

-If you're going to take pictures, turn every light off, place your camera somewhere firm (do not hold with your hands or you'll shake), and set it to a long exposure manually (1s or more probably needed).

-Take a photo of the camera screen (you're going to need to cameras)

I mentioned it's not as bad as the picture suggests, that would be crazy. It's enough for me to notice in dark movies, certain parts of games, and with the windows backdrop I was using - that's enough for me.

I know what you mean.I bought monitor ages ago with BLB which was minimal but it whent straight back.

"To throw a spanner in the works i'm considering going for the Dell TN gsync and a GTX 980 rather than the 390x and Acer IPS I have on order - but that's another thread!"

So you whent with acer, what is your plan now?Return this and go for dell/gtx980 combo?

That pic is better than my Acer and tbh i'd put up with that.

Re. what to do moving forward - it depends what OCUK say. Although i'm tempted just to return it and possibly go for a VA panel as apparently they suffer less from this issue. I'm very happy with the 390x tho - so 980/dell combo isn't an option (plus the card is massive and I had to cut half my drive bay out with sheers to fit it in and all that work isn't going to waste :) )

If you happy with R9 390X why wouldn't you try to buy Asus MG279Q first before VA panel? It cost 440£ so it's cheaper than Acer. Freesync range is 35-90hz but there're ways to extend it. ViRuS2k bought one (he said no bld or dead pixels).
Keep an eye on Asus MG279Q thread.

I may do, jimhaumman. Although i'm considering the 35" VA panel now. OCUK have been very good about this btw and are picking up the monitor next week.

How is the backlight bleed on yours? I'm tempted by this one also.

Also have you encountered any motion blur? I noticed this one doesnt have the blur reduction of the gsync model.
