Acid attacks

Risk. A pursuit of a car can and will be cancelled if it's too risky for the officers, the public or the occupants of the vehicle being pursued, a pursuit of a moped rider without any kind of protection between themselves and the ground is simply too dangerous, especially when police drivers can face criminal proceedings should the rider be injured or killed. The police are always held to account for anything that happens during a pursuit because they're deemed to be in control of it.

Seriously? It's not like that where I come from... The police in the USA will straight up ram you with their cars and send you flying off the road. Then they'll drag you out of the car unconscious and put a beat down on you. All while yelling "Stop resisting!"

It's not that bad in Canada but lets just say I've seen the cops beat the living **** out of people more than once.

Which is ridiculous and people always looking to lynch police are a big part of the problem. Police should be allowed to just run them off the road, if they want to avoid that danger then don't run away in the first place.

Police just need to publicly change the rules of engagement with regards to mopeds etc. Announce that due to current climate criminals on mopeds will be chased and if need be rammed off their moped. Ignore the brain dead minority that will complain.

This use to be how things were done. My uncle was a toe rag in his youth, stole a moped and was knocked off in a police chase. No one in the family or even him thought it was over the top or unfair. Grandad paid for the bike to be replaced. Everyone though uncle got what he deserved.

Point is they use the mopeds because they know they won't be chased.

A moped travelling at 40+MPH doesn’t just disappear when it gets knocked over. I don’t think having a consideration of where a lump of metal barrelling down a high street might end up is a bad thing.

I've seen police use their vehicles as a weapon in the states, (it was reasonable I might add, the women had a gun) its brilliant, our police are scared to chase criminals incase they fall off and hurt themselves, its pathetic, and we wonder why our crime rate has rocketed.

They can't, the law doesn't protect them.

Another bad thing is allowing the riders to escape to act again. With confrontation comes risk.

Ok so when bystanders start getting killed by cars and motorcycles plowing into them after being rammed off the street everyone thinks that's just another part of urban life?

Why not just have Predator drones firing down onto criminals, if a few innocent lives are taken too, so be it.

Can't say I hear of rampant public deaths in other countries where police do use these kind of tactics? Plus these mopeds are hairdriers the majority of them, nudge them going into a corner.

2 most common areas round here for moped gangs/ crime have busy high streets granted. But metal railings between road and pedestrian areas. Little moped and / or a little brat hitting one of these isn't going to go through it.

We are at a point where delivery drivers, people who are on minimum wage jobs going about there lives, are deliberately being called out and ambushed, being disfigured for life, all so scumbags can steal a moped which is worth **** all. These delivery drivers do not stand a chance.

Extreme measures need to be taken.

The police are human beings and make mistakes. What happens when there’s a case of mistaken identity and they ram the wrong moped off the streets?

To be honest, i don't think mopeds or speed limited bikes should have the minimum age raised to 17 so it is the same as cars. I don't think this will do much for crime in general but it will certainly do something to take away how fashionable it is for little scroats to get one. Therefore targeting moped related crime partly.

I know you can do far less damage on a moped than a car but you still put road users at risk by driving recklessly. Though age and maturity is not directly related, i find it hard to justify the need for kids to be on mopeds every time i see a group of lads driving in and around traffic stupidly.

Why have people moved on from knives to acid? I don't get it.

Because of the charges most likely. Attempted Murder vs GBH. Also, you can get heavy charges for carrying a knife compared to just walking around with a bottle.

And that's the ridiculous thing, If i was maimed by acid and blinded, I think I would rather be dead. The sentence for throwing acid at someone should be the same as that for knife crime. Far too lenient at the moment.
