Acids New car..

Hey guys, it's payday today so need to get the shocks and stuff for a general service however, what model is it on the http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecommerce/CarModels.asp?SELECT=true&P=Parts

website?
Golf veriant 1.8 Mono-motronic AAM ANN 55KW
Golf veriant 1.8 Mono-motronic ADZ ANP 66KW
Golf veriant 1.8 Mono-motronic ABS 66KW

Any idea?

Also Have I forgot anything?
AIR FILTER
OIL FILTER
SPARK PLUGS
WIPER BLADES
SHOCK ABSORBERS REAR
ENGINE OIL
Cambelt (is that the timing belt?)

Have I forgoten anything on a general service, would you bother changing the fuel filter?

on mine i did.

engine and gearbox oil
plugs, dizzy, rotor (HTs this weekend)
gearbox mount, that made my gear change feel better

how old are your front shocks? prolly worth doing front and rear at same time

are top mounts worth doing you recon? £7 a corner

do you need springs too?

it only cost me £270 so don't want to do to much to her, gearbox oil change is a good idea. Front shocks I'll leave they feel fine.

Check the data sticker under the boot carpet - will quote the engine code and the power output in kW.

i only did mine cos ive got 150k miles, wouldnt worry about it too much on yours.

get the usual ignition bits done and see if you can get cheap HTs off an auction site.

they are good cars as far as im aware so far

Don't bother with the gearbox oil. It will last the cars life. :)

That said, gearbox oil is cheaper than the box it goes in.

Far cheaper to change it & be safe. ;)

My BM's gearbox is supposedly sealed for life, amazing how much smoother it was once I changes the sludge that was once oil in the box.

Fluid changes keep mechanical bits happy. ;)

Yeah, yeah I agree. On a banger though, its hardly worth bothering with tho, hence the advice. :)

Any idea where? Had a look in the boot couldn't find anything?

On the metal under the trim somewhere. Might also be in the spare wheel well. My Mk2 Jetta one was on the inside of the rear slam panel. There's also one in the front of the service book if you have it.

Missing sticker can be a sign of repaired accident damage.
