** Acme [Akagi] bought a pink estate car - E30 325i project log! **

I will be with the person who welds it, as they weld it. And they'll be teaching me a bit as well, so some of the easier bits might even get done by me! With supervision of course. :p

Given your original post and how you described the guy you bought it from, have you considered dropping by and letting him see what you've done to it? I'm sure he'd be thrilled.

I have been keeping in touch via email, he and his wife have seen all of those pictures and more and had a detailed update. :)

I do plan on paying them a visit once the welding and a bit of paintwork has been done however, because then it will be basically finished (for now) :p

That's a lovely opportunity, jealous. I want a go! Be great to see how you get on :)
I'm quite nervous, but I want to get it done ASAP.
Question is, are you going to buy something to replace the MX5?
Of course. The question should be, am I going to buy something sensible to replace the MX5? :p

I've actually been looking at 1.2 70PS Polo's.

But then I've also been looking at 350Z's... :D

If I get a Polo I will do all the stupid stuff to it that I never did to mine... Straight pipe from the cat back, and a cold air intake. I want to hear that 3 cylinder scream! :p

I like the look of that. Looks like its sitting too low at the back compared to the front though. Bit of a PITA as its on lowering springs not adjustable coilovers. :p

I daresay it will be sold before I can buy a car anyway but thanks for the heads up. :)

On the subject of the E30 though, I'd quite like to get its original registration back. H120 JPA. Assuming it isn't currently in use, how do I go about doing that? I read online that there is a way to claim a vehicles original plate.

As predicted a deposit has been put on that Z4 already. Need to hurry up and get a new car because I'm munching through my annual miles on the Bimmer!

Looking at something later. :p

Its not a CTR. I'm not sure if you will be surprised, or completely unsurprised to be honest :p

I'm viewing it because it ticks the boxes and is local and is a good price, might not end up buying it. :)

OK OK I'm not looking at it because it is a good price, it was just a passing observation this time! :p

There are only two within 80~ miles of me, one is a 5 owner car on 93,000 miles, the other is a 1 owner car on 96,000 miles. Both are on my radar. The 1 owner car is with a dealer who is asking a ridiculous amount of money for it, but I am still interested if I can knock him down a bit. It is one of the most expensive ones for sale in the whole country, if not the most expensive. The 5 owner car is from a private seller and it is a good price. Not the cheapest by any means, but a good price. :)

Haha yes. :p

It is a Toyota Corolla T-Sport... A facelift one... In Grey... With 90 some-odd thousand miles on the clock... Sound familliar? :D

In addition to all the normal bits like electric windows and remote central locking, they have a useful on-board-computer, automatic climate control, auto wipers, comfy seats, decent speakers and sound insulation, they go well, they aren't much money, they are reasonably bulletproof, and I know about them and their foibles already... They're also cheap to insure...

Seems like the perfect mix of creature comforts, simplicity/reliability, and zoom zoom... Plus I miss my old one...

They are the ones yep.

1800 quid one had slight play in a strut as an advisory on the last MOT, think its just a worn top mount. And from the pics I've noticed the bonnet alignment is off so might have had a prang at some point. Going to give it a proper look over. My old one was the same in fairness... Another advisory for corroded rear axle beam, so I'm going to have a good look at that but I suspect its just covered in surface rust. I got an MOT advisory on mine for corroded wishbones, and they were fine, just with surface rust which brushed off easily.

Also going to look at the other one, 3000 is too much I feel even for a mint one, especially since the mileage is nothing special. 2400 tops would be more reasonable, but it's whether or not he drops that low.

My old one was 1650 on 86K and an 05 plate, but it turned out to need a clutch and some other bits as you lot well know.

Just found out the 'rolla is 120 miles away not 63 miles away... Guy gave me the wrong postcode by accident...

Not sure its worth the trip tbh! Back to browsing Autotrader.

Shame there aren't many RWD cars...

I wouldn't... after I bought my EP2 4 days later a perfect EP2 came up locally, in the colour I wanted and better condition. Be patient, something will eventually pop up closer to you.

Trouble is, I can't wait too long. I'm piling too many miles on the E30. Its on limited mileage, it isn't supposed to be my main car but it has been for goodness knows how long cos the Eunos was such a pile of poo. :p

I'll see how much it will cost me to increase the mileage cap a bit.

Out of interest what happened with the damage the drunk driver caused? Did they eventually fess up?

Nope. And I forgot all about it to be honest! Had so much else going on and I fixed it a couple of hours later, it totally slipped my mind.

I should go to the rozzers and see whats what really. Can't let these people get away with stuff like this.

They couldn't have done it before either, would have been out of her system by the time someone turned up. Or even if she were still intoxicated, theres no way to tell if she had become intoxicated afterwards.
