Acoustic Energy Aegis Evo 3 Speakers

ok right, i am getting really annoyed with the Z5500 speakers, i dont like the sub, it overloads at full bass and 6 bars of volume, its not performing to what a 10" with 188watt should do.

Assume i have £300 can you practically chose all the parts of rthe system, what i could possibly get for that, this including 2 speakers a sub and amp and whatever else i need, select 2 types of sub, 1 car and 1 Hi-Fi sub, if anyone can do this for me, would be better to see what i am able to do, i am thinking about getting a refund on the z5500's if possible. If you find it hard trying to find stuff for £300, go up to £400.

Thanks
Will T

Omg, i will have to find someway to break them which dont void warranty, oh, well i get this clicking noise coz of power, logitech will refund for that, they told me so in an email.

darn, there tottaly annoying me, i dont get any good bass or anything now, and i was saying they were decent! if i got those 2 speakers and an amp, cant i just disconnect all speakers form the z5500 and connect only the sub/center into the sound card for the z5500, so i have those 2 Hi-Fi speakers and tempory have the z5500 sub?

also are these worht 30 quid? Speakers (ebay)

i havent blown the drivers, i know those speakers need amps, but if i got 2 speakers, and an amp, connected them to the ocmp, i still would have a conneciton free to connect the Z5500 sub to the comp.

i thought some bass would be better than none, umm it depends, i can use software to make the sub sound better which i done before, just messed around with settings, also would some used missions @ £50 be able to go louder than all 5 z5500 speakers at full blast, that would do me fine as the z5500 speakers can give me a headache.

mmmm these look good, what do you think?

For a decent subwoofer, its kind of a car sub i think, but this would do
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fusion-12-Sub...67QQihZ004QQcategoryZ3275QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

bet that would beat my z5500 sub.

I have suddenly taken a 180 degrees turn with the Z5500 and dont really like them anymore, at the moment the sub is at left side of me on a desk so its at about the same level as my head, and the bass is crap, there is hardly any, i turn it up to about 6 on some songs with the sub volume up full, and you hear the clicking of the sub overloading coz it cant take much mroe of that volume, and i was like, what, this aint loud, maybe its the location, but i dunno.

Is it possible to take the speaker outa the z5500 sub and make a new box that will make the bass and everyhting better + louder? maybe even mount it in my desk.

Unless you know the specifications of the Logitech driver, no. You can't just plonk a sub driver into any box and expect it to perform well.
Those still look like WVM speakers, I have to wonder how they manage to build a 2/3 way floorstander for £70.

You've ignored my advice about going with decent brands so I'm afraid I've given up. Buy those POS speakers but don't complain if they sound rubbish, perhaps if you're unlucky the wiring is shorted out inside, thus blowing your amplifer up.

By Rotel, NAD, Kef or B&W speakers and decent quality gear. Buy any old tat that looks like it's been dropped from a back of a lorry and be disappointed. At your budget you WILL NOT buy quality speakers / subwoofer. My recommendation would be (minimum price/quality, + for anything above that)

£200+ CD player
£200+ amplifier
£200+ standmounts
£400+ floorstanders
£400+ subwoofer if for music
£600+ subwoofer for AV (movies)

I think you need to read up on subwoofer design, and why a car driver, in a car box won't work that well under HT conditions.

I would also suggest going to av forums for advice.

Whats this, CD Player, why would i need one of those? i dont have any cd's, cant it just be connected to the computer? cd are a waste of time in the house. What are Standmounts?

What do you mean Sub for music and one for movies, your suggesting buying 2, there must be a sub suitable for all :\.

So from what you have written, about 1 Grand + for the essentials :\, is this for Super High end quality, i am 17 years old for god sake, even with a part time job it would take me long time to earn 1 grand just for blowing just like that, what about Starter sets that are quality, if you've gotta pay over 1 grand just for a Hi-Fi setup just to get quality, then its not worth it, becouse that extra £800+ from the logitech z5500 wont make £800 worth of sound difference, its an 1337 waste of money, 400-500 would be better for someone who is just coming into all this Hi-Fi stuff, all my life i been used to listning to first it was Nicam Stereo crap TV's, then some sort of wierd goodmans surround sound home theatre system with some wierd sub/center all in one, then a Sony 300 home entertainment piece of crap, then best thing i ever heard was the z5500's, and now i am biggining to think these are a worthless piece of crap when there not and the X-FI sound card is making sound quality worse, the z5500 is one of the closest things to a Hi-Fi becouse if it were that crap, then Hi-Fi's would sound so clear and everyhting that it was Unreal, I dont know if These 50w Hi-Fi's go loud or is it just quality? is it the more watts the louder somthing goes? watts must matter, you see these Hi-Fi subs that are like dual 12" drivers that are like 1000watts and then most people say they dont like bass :\. As i have said before, i have never heard a Hi-Fi, i dont know if they will sound better than anything else, maybe they might, or maybe everyone with Hi-Fi's just say there better becouse of the money they thrown into buying these things?, some people spending nearly 1000+ on a sub, there obviously loaded, or maybe i am just poor, but my parents would never be able to shell out that much paper just for some speakers, and i dont think i would like to aswell tbh.

Some nice £100 speakers would do, if there good quality, second hand would be ok, dont usually like second hand stuff, neva kno were its been, then an amp, prefrebly second hand as they would cost a silly price new, then later on, i would only ever go to at the max 500 for a sub, and for a tempory period, the Hi-Fi speakers could use whatever they use, and the Z5500 would use the center/sub so i would have some bass even tho i dont like it much.

I wish i could position my sub in the corner, but any corner, and it wont reach the comp, if i have it in the corner near me, its at least 1-1.5ft away form the computer, would that do damage?

Yea i have looked on Ebay, cant see anything decent, some things appear decent for £100 but i aint sure, i aint trying to knock propor audio kit, but all i am saying is, pc speakers like the z5500 aint crap, i wouldent heard £800 better quality in somthing that costs £800 more, i just spent £150 on X-FI and what a load of good that did , i dont even have a job, was thinking bout building a computer and selling it for a profit but that wouldent work, maybe using £800 to build a computer to match the specs of a 2-3 grand poxy thing from pc world then selling it for like 1600, THEN i might go buy High End stuff, but the thing i can get my head around subwoofers costing these extreme high prices, just for the damnd thing.

And also no Hi-Fi system brand new for £200 would be better than the z5500's as the Hi-Fi would be cheap crap from the prices i have seen, the z5500's are brilliant for how much they cost, for PC Audio i have spent £350, inc speakers and sound card.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TEVION-COMPUT...categoryZ72406QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting << take a look at that, and thats why i think the z5500's are so amazing, that speaker system is the same type as i have used for about 2 years, and its rubbish. The thing that is annoying is, even if someone asks about pc speakers, which one to get, they still reccomend Hi-Fi on here, and the fact everyone says PC Speakers are crap, its like comparing a old shed of a car to a ferrari when comparing high end pc speakers with Hi-Fi's.

it can be on the floor, but not in a corner, the nearest free corner to me is too far for the sub as the cable to the control centre, then to the sound card is too short, if i have it in the cornet near me i would have it 1.5ft away from the pc/hard drivers which would cause hell right?
Also, i would prefer to only go with Buy Now bids. i got an old computer, Pentium 4 3ghz, DFI Infinity 865pe, Ati Radeon 9600, i wonder if i could sell that for a good enough price towards some speakers? but it keeps shutting off due to faulty mobo, maybe get £100 for 3 ghz prescott pentium 4 and Arctice Freezer 4 Cooler?

ah, its just when i opened the z5500 box up there was a piece of paper saying becouse of the strong magnetic field it should be place 2ft away from all electrical equipment. someone told me it will fry my hard drive, my desk is at side of wall, my comp is in the corner on the desk, i move the desk so there is enough space for the sub, and the sub is really directly below the pc.

i will have a look, but even tho i am slowely getting more annoyed with the z5500's i will keep them for games and thigns like that, but the Hi-Fi would be for music and maybe movies. i have about 50quid free at moment, but i think i got an EMA Bonus of £100, but aint sure, if i have i am on my way as i can sell some stuff laying around.

http://www.richersounds.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=ELTA-CONCEPT180-BLK < are these good quality, or just crap, there a preety good price, if i wanted i could get them now, but wouldent coz i need an amp.

Yea, well it will be a while untill i manage to buy it all, i dunno weather i should save for x1900xtx graphics first, or Hi-Fi, if i got the Hi-FI, i would then after that save up for one of those SVS subs with Dual 12" Subs and 1000watt rms, its a monster compared to anything i seen on the net and well ever seen :o.

Also, about this sony system downstairs, its 80W rms sub, and 5x 50W Rms for the sats, now from what i can tell its a 9" or 8" speaker in the sub, i pushed around the actual sub thing, but i feld like wird plastic, so its either 8" or 6", but the thing is, the Box is smaller than the Z5500 sub, Smaller port, Smaller speaker, and yet the bass is better and louder than my z5500 when my z5500 should be twice as powerfull.

http://www.sony-mea.com/product_details.asp?InpProdId=5797, thats what my parents have downstairs even thought the overall speaker quality aint as good as the z5500, it can go louder, and more bass, yet smaller speakers and smaller sub :s

Putting anything in the port hole doesent make the volume go down, well i have never tried a sock, i would have thought it would get blown out.

Oh and also, downstairs, the sub is on a solid floor with carpet, my sub upstairs is obviously on a wooden floor with carpet. I dunno about the design, i think the Z5500's design is better, these front long thro subs are better that the subs were speakers are on the side, the z5500 just needs a better sub, hmm whats this about maybe there going to release a limited edition Z5500 or somthing, i wonder what difference there will be, bigger speakers? better sub?, if its £200 and better sub, i might buy it.

Ah, ok, anyway with the z5500, i am going to move it so the actual front is facing down, and put some stands on each corner, so its down facing :D. Oh and get laminate flooring to slide around on my chair and increase bass a little amount :p
