Acoustic Energy Aegis Evo 3 Speakers

Putting anything in the port hole doesent make the volume go down, well i have never tried a sock, i would have thought it would get blown out.

Oh and also, downstairs, the sub is on a solid floor with carpet, my sub upstairs is obviously on a wooden floor with carpet. I dunno about the design, i think the Z5500's design is better, these front long thro subs are better that the subs were speakers are on the side, the z5500 just needs a better sub, hmm whats this about maybe there going to release a limited edition Z5500 or somthing, i wonder what difference there will be, bigger speakers? better sub?, if its £200 and better sub, i might buy it.

Bunging the port does decrease volume, but it also reduces the amount of boom. It's not the same as just reducing the volume.

I would not buy the new version of yours, it won't be magically better, perhaps slightly improved, but no way as good as proper sub upgrade over yours. You'll just be wasting more money.

Ah, ok, anyway with the z5500, i am going to move it so the actual front is facing down, and put some stands on each corner, so its down facing :D. Oh and get laminate flooring to slide around on my chair and increase bass a little amount :p

Laminate flooring is pretty bad for room acoustics since the sound echoes straight off it. Any echoes are bad news. And wouldn't pointing the sub straight down just send the bass down into the room below?

I think the best way to setup that sub is with the grille pointing forward and the port pointing left, and the sub in a corner to your right. If the port is facing a wall, you might get more bass but it will be boomy and uncontrolled. With the port facing into free air you should get better bass and an amount to match the rest of the music better.

yes down-firing a sub is only really of any use if you have a concrete floor. hollow wooden flooring does nothing for down-firing subs except rattle and make them sound worse. Ideal, you want to stop every rattle you can in the room. rattle = wasted energy. Thats why my two subs are facing forward.

Yea i noticed since i made it downfiring, on a song giant thump, whole floor shakes and you hear all my furniture shaking, why use carpet on concrete block, dont carpet eat bass lol?

There it is :p^

My dad said that the speaker will ware out quicker becouse it dont have enough force to go back into the idle position, you know when its not moving, is this right? or aload of mumbo jumbo

That bit of chipboard you're using isn't doing a thing. Try a concrete block. I use a bit of carpet as the block isn't totally flat. About £3 for a 30cm x 30cm x 2.5cm block.

Hmmm, the only reason i use the wood is so the sub is on a level service, since i had it like that, the bass is less boomy, and sounds better, anything else other than a concrete block that wood be good enough, hopefully i might have somthing in the garden, but would have to place it on that same piece of chipboard as my mum wouldent let me place it on the carpet.
